My mom went for her fitting at Macy's Bridal in the Smithhaven Mall today. They want to charge her $250 for her alterations, which amount to a hem and some adjustments on the top to tighten it.
I'm just outraged! The sales people that helped us were extremely helpful and friendly.....they certainly never mentioned this! I just feel like it's not fair.
I fought with the manager this evening and she wouldn't budge - not that I thought she would - so now we are picking up the dress an going somewhere else.
Thanks for listening!

Re: Ranting and Raving....
I know brides who paid less to have their wedding gowns hemmed, taken in and bustled!
that's a LOT of money

Re: Ranting and Raving....
That's insane! You should have your mom give this woman a call: her name is Tolia (pronounced Tulla) and she works out of her home - she also works at a bridal shop as a seamstress. She is really nice and very reasonable. She charged us (as bridesmaids) $40 to alter our dresses, and both of my sisters had to have their dresses taken in 2 sizes. Her number is 631.231.6925 and she's located in Brentwood.

Re: Ranting and Raving....
After I posted this I started to feel like I was crazy....like maybe that was what people were paying. I'm glad to see that I'm not the only surprised by the $$$.
