What does it signify? When in the ceremony is it done?

Re: RC Brides: Custom of giving flowers to Mary
Hi there,
As far as I know, the custom is done during a Catholic Nupitual Mass immediately after the vows(the church people will know exactly when).
The cantor or singer sings some version of 'Ave Maria' while the Bride and Groom present a bouquet at the statue of Mary and pray for a bit.
This acts honors Mary as the Mother of Jesus, and also as someone who was once a Bride with many hopes and dreams herself! Personally, I think it's very cool that we have a chance to honor a fellow woman at our ceremony!

Yup, we're doing it too. My mom had a young cousin do it with her in lieu of having a flower girl
