RC Church help?

RC Church help?

My fiance and I are both Catholic, however we do not belong to a parish together on Long Island. We have a friend who is a priest (from Pennsylvania) and would like him to marry us.

He suggests we join a parish, begin the process and then request that he either officiates or co-officiates.

My question is, does anyone know what the flexibility of either St. Patrick's in Huntington or St. Patrick's in Bay Shore is regarding outside priests coming in? It would be very special for him to marry us. Any advice is appreciated, thanks!!

Sorry, I don't know about those two churches, but we have had no problem (yet) in our RC church getting an outside priest to officiate. My friend and sister who have gotten married in the same church also used an outside priest. I think this is more common than you may think, so hopefully wou should have no problems.

st patricks church in huntington can be strict over the phone, but if you go in person and speak with someone, i do not think you will have any trouble. i have heard of previous weddings being held there when neither bride or groom were parishioners. father joseph there is a real understanding priest, been there about 5 years. i would call the offices there and set up an appointment with a priest there. st pats is a beautiful church, i am having my ceremony there. hope this helps!

I'm getting married in St. Pat's Bay Shore - They definitely do allow outside priests. DH's priest from MA is a close family friend so we are considering having him preside but we aren't sure... but that's how i know for sure that they do allow it!
