RC Church Wedding LI, please help!!

Hello Lovlies!!

Is anyone getting married at a RC Church in Nassau County that does not requre you to be a parishioner of that church? We have been shut down by 3 churches because we are not parishioners!! I never thought it would be this hard to find a church!!

Our church is in Queens, and we would like to stay in Long Island, since our venue is in Smithtown.

Anyways, any suggestions would be soo helpful, as the wedding is in June.

Thanksss!!!!!

My church doesnt require you to be a parishoner, you just have to have a letter from your church saying its okay. But its all the way in Riverhead...

St. Raphael's in East Meadow - that's where we got married and we do not belong to that parish. They were very welcoming!

I am getting married at Our Holy Redeemer in Freeport. They didn't seem to have any issues with my FH not belonging to the Parish. As long as you have your baptism certificate they are ok with it. I would call the rectory too.

I can't believe three churches have turned you away. That's just crazy.

I know you were looking for Long Island but St. Mary Gate of Heaven in Queens is gorgeous in case you change your mind. I am reading at a ceremony there at 2 today and will post pics tomorrow for you and anyone else looking for a church!

Try Maria Regina in Seaford. It's RC and I'm not sure, but I don't think you have to be a parishoner.

Are you sure they don't mean you are not a member of the diocy in general? You or your FH have to be an OFFICIAL member of your church to get married (pretty sure).

I went and registered with my church because eventhough I have gone through all the sacriments I was not an official member (i.e. they send you money envelopes).

But then again who knows because my the church I am getting married at never asked for documentation but I had my church send a letter anyway.

St Aidan's in Williston Park - neither DH or I were parishoners there and they were just wonderful. They made us feel so welcome and Fr Tom gave a beautiful ceremony

We're getting married at St. Pat's (in 7 days!!!) and they've been great. We didn't have to provide any type of letter in order to get married there, but my family used to belong to the church years ago, so maybe they still consider me a parshioner? Honestly, they never even asked!
