We're having our RD at a restaurant but we chose not to rent out the entire place (we'd need to have about 50 guests and we're only looking to have about 1/2 that). The space is a large rectangle and we'll be off in a corner I think but I'm wondering whether this is an appropriate space in which to make 'speeches' -- you know, like when we thank people. Just wondering what you all did? Thanks!!

Re: RD @ restaurant without a private room?
We had basically the same thing. We made a speech but we stood in the corner away from any other diners. It worked out fine.

Re: RD @ restaurant without a private room?
I was eating once at this place and there was a rehersal going on near us. We stopped talking whenever they made a speech or handed out gifts to be polite to them. We found it fun to see all that going on LOL like we were a part of it. We clapped for them too!!! I think its totally fine.

I agree-you can definetly make speeches, and hand out your gifts. RDs are usually informal, they are more the pre-wedding celebration, and thanking all of your wonderful BP.
