I want to start planning our rehearsal dinner. FH's parents have not and will not offer a penny -so it is ALL on us to pay for it. I am getting married on a Saturday morning and have already decided RD will be on the Thursday before.
I do not want to spend a ton of money and I am set on doing a 'cinco de Mayo' theme because that is my wedding day and my Birthday.
I have a list of about 15 MUST ATTENDS and then you get into that sticky gray area of people who you MAY want to invite.. I am thinking that I should account for anywhere from 15-25.
I could do a Mexican Restaurant at 30.95/pp OR I could save a ton of money by doing it in my home and doing all my own cooking..tacos, enchiladas, burritos, taquitos, chips, salsa, sangria and Margaritas...
I am compelled to save $$ - we are doing it all alone and it is a LOT of money - but I really am not sure i want to be entertaining at my house 2 days before my wedding!
What do you guys think?

Re: RD Dilemma
If you really want a Cinco De Mayo theme....Go to a meican restaurant...I am not sure where you live, but aren't there a lot around? I wouldn't host in your house....

Re: RD Dilemma
I would let money decide the factor but that is just me. If it was the night b4 I would say no to the house but it is 2 nights b4 so maybe not so bad

Re: RD Dilemma
I think that the aggrevation and work that goes into preparation and cleanup will outweigh the cost in having it at a Mexican restaurant. I know that it is hard to scape all of the money together, but just keep your invite list to a minimum and do a Mexican restaurant! They will also probably have mariachi guys which adds something, and I am sure the food will be amazing. Don't allow yourself to be even more stressed 2 days before your wedding! HTH!

Re: RD Dilemma
i would do it at home. my aunt did hers at home and it was really nice because everyone was so much more relaxed. i think we are going to do our at my parents house. we have too many oot that we want to be there to fit into a restaurant. and money is money, so if you can save it.....put it towards relaxing on the honeymoon!!
