RD - do we need to have one?

RD - do we need to have one?

We are getting married at the RH.. and we are not doing a walk thru at the RH just going to get the info the morning of the wedding. So it would be just a dinner for us to all get together as like a thank you type of thing to give them their gifts?

Toying with the idea of not having one....

I dont think you absolutely have to have one. Its up to you.

I was trying to get away without having one, but recently, I was questioned by several BP members. I feel pressured now! They all insist that we need a rehearsal.

We're not having one for the same reason - instead I was thinking of taking the girls out to brunch at some point to give them their gifts and have FH do something with the guys. I also didn't want an RD because normally it's the night before and since we're having an afternoon wedding - I didn't want to be up late the day before the wedding and FH's family is out of state, so I didn't want to have to have them come up Thursday because that would mean taking off from work Friday, plus another night at the hotel, etc...didn't want them to waste money just so we could say we had an RD, ya know?

i want to have them all together to give them their gifts, but i know they are all off the day before the wedding (were getting married on a sunday) - i wanted to look into like a brunch type of thing.. maybe a little bit more inexpensive and different...

I think it's a nice tradition just to touch base with everyone and make sure everything is all set. It doesn't have to be crazy expensive. You could even just have people over your house or your parents' house.

We have the same situation with the no walk through but since everyone is in town and it's a tradition, we're just all going to a restaurant and FH and I are paying out of our wedding budget. Think of it like an extra piece of the thank you gift.

You don't need to have one at all. We didn't have one. It's just another unecessary expense.

u def dont need to have one, they might be helpful for some but if your doing it the morning of than you dont really need it, just find another time to give gifts to bp

I am doing the same thing as you- I even suggested to my mom and FMIL that I would so have people over at a house and cater in food and hangout and give out gifts...

We are getting married at RH and rabbi and reverend are doing run through half hour before ceremony so really no rehearsing at the actual dinner..lol

We're not sure what we are doing yet either. We were toying with the idea of doing a bunch the weekend before the wedding to say thanks and give out gifts, but then remembered that's Memorial day weekend. So at this point now, we are thinking we'll just hand out gifts to our bp the morning of. So far we have not been very formal about anything with this wedding, so it doesn't bother me to continue that way.

If it's not a money issue, I would do it, it would be nice to have a more intimate gathering with just your close family and bridal party to celebrate. Of course, if it's a money issue, then you have to do what's best for you.
