RD Frustrations...(Port Jeff area)

RD Frustrations...(Port Jeff area)

FH, my parents and I went to look at places for our RD this weekend in Port Jefferson.

We started at Danford's-which is where I wanted to have it. FH noticed on the menu that they charge a service charge of 20% for labor costs in addition to tax and tip. I really don't want to spend $60or more per person for our RD.

We tried a bunch of other places but they were either too expensive, too snooty (1 place across the street from Danfords was so rude we actually walked out), or too cheap and cheesy (John Harvard's----pot pie for RD menu, no thanks).

We are having Italian for our wedding so we can't have Italian for the RD. Any other ideas? Help!

I live in PJ Danfords is unfortunately expensive, especially now that they remodeled - the place across the street is new to PJ .....they were in Greenport and closed out there - also a bit expensive. What about calling Joey @ Z-Pita, or is that too casual for you ? There is a new hibachi/Thai restaurant in Setauket on Main Street ? What atmosphere are you looking for ? casual or formal ? What about talking to Tom at The Elk Street Grill ..that is a great place !!

I grew up in PJ! So did FH! We decided not to do it downtown for that reason. But since we're getting married at Infant Jesus, we wanted to stay local. We checked out Amici's and Handlebar in Mt. Sinai. We ended up going with Eddie G's steakhouse right on the Mt. Sinai/Miller Place border. We'd been there for dinner once before. Food is great, prices are great, and we're getting the entire restaurant to ourselves (we have 30+ people). FM me if you want more info.

Small world - we were there so often Tommy & Cyndi knew us by name .... We even had my friends 30th birthday party there in the back room. They did a great job !!

Thanks for your response. The place across from Danford's is actually the place that we walked out of bc of their rudeness!

Do you know the name of the Thai/ hibachi place? That sounds cool! I don't want somewhere too formal. I used to live in Stony Brook and can't remember all of the places out that way!

I grew up (and still live) in Port Jeff. IL Miridoro is one of my favorites. They have a private room too. Aslo, you could try Ruvo or Paces. If you like sushi, there's also Kimi sushi right on main street, or the village way across the street from there. All of these, except for maybe Paces, are reasonable priced. What about the Elk Street Grill? So many place in and around Port Jeff...I'll let you know if I come up with any more. Good luck!

Il Miradoro = shutting down its PJ operation and relocating to Smithtown.

Also - PJ Country Club has a small private room for about 40 people and we considered that - the price was not too bad!

The Three Village Inn in Stony Brook would be a great place for a RD....the food is fantastic...but I am biased...that's where my wedding is!!!!
