RD Problem-Your thoughts are appreciated!

RD Problem-Your thoughts are appreciated!

We are thinking of having us, parents, grandparent, and bp and the parents of the children in the bp at our RD. Although we are having A LOT of OOT guests we weren't necessarily planning on inviting them (it would be almost as big as the wedding!!)and my one aunt made a comment TWICE now to my mother about being invited to the RD and when my mom said that she didn't know since she wasn' t handling that (FH parents are) she just said that she ASSUMED she'd be attending the RD Thurs night (side note we are getting married on a Friday but were seriously considering a Wed night RD) I still have a long time to figure this all out but was hoping for some of your opinions/suggestions

TIA

We didn't have so much a 'rehearsal' dinner because we didn't have a rehearsal. Two nights before the wedding we had a big BBQ for the wedding party, close family, and out of town guests. We also had brunch at the hotel the morning after the wedding. If you can do something, I think it's nice to show some appreciation for the OOT guests, who spent a lot of $$ and planning to help celebrate your wedding day.
If you don't want them at the RD, maybe you can do something the day after the wedding?
My family is pretty spread out across the US and I've never gone to an affair where there wasn't some sory of additional party, lunch, etc for OOT guests.

That's tough. Can you do something at home maybe and have it catered by your favorite restaurant? This might save you some$$ and some hurt feelings.JMO

we are not inviting any OOT guests to the RD unless they are close to us.

We figured if someone is coming in for the weekend- they might want to take in a show, catch up with friends that live here, etc. This IS New York-- not some rural area where there is nothing else to do. That's my two cents.

Oh and we are having 46 people, well inviting, which includes us.. so it is not small.

We don't plan on inviting our OOTs, will prob just be immediate family and BP.

I'm actually in a very similar situation. My FH's entire family and most of our friends are coming 3000 miles for our wedding, and we're trying to figure out how and who to invite. Since it's mostly my FIL's who have to figure out which of their family they want to invite we got off a little lucky.

Maybe you could just say that you aren't able to invite everyone you want to the RD, but as mrswask said, have a bruch the next day at your house (which is actually what we're doing for all of our friends who are traveling so far) and then you can invite all your family.

It's a tough one - Good luck!

Do what we did, have the rehearsal the weekend before the wedding so none of your OOT guests will be here yet.
We actually didn't do it the weekend before because of OOT (we didn't have any) but rather we didn't want to feel rushed or pressured doing it too close to the wedding.

Good idea if you don't have anyone from OOT in your bridal party or church participants!
