RD question- When did you have your Rehearsal Dinner? (how many nights before your wedding?)

RD question- When did you have your Rehearsal Dinner? (how many nights before your wedding?)

Here is my situation:

We currently have our RD scheduled two nights before the wedding, simply because I know I am going to be a nervous wreck the night before and just figured it would be a nice night to try to wind down and de-stress a little.
However, all of FH family is coming from out of town, and although they will all be there, only one of his GMs will be able to make it. FH is fine with them missing out, but I know he will regret it.

So, my question is, when was your RD, and if you did have it the night before, was it too crazy? What do you think I should do- change it to the night before so more can attend, or keep it as is?

(at this point, I am figuring I am going to be stressed every night before the wedding so it may not matter WHEN it is, but I wanted everyone's opinion who has been there)

I'm doing mine the Wednesday night before the wedding (our wedding is on a Friday night) for the same reason. a) I don't want my guests to party too hard the night before my wedding and be tired for the wedding and b) I know I'm going to have butterflies in my stomach the night before and would rather have a glass of wine and quiet night with FH. Three of my BMs are coming from out of the country/town. If they can't make it, sure I'll miss them, but, not to be too selfish, I'd rather do what I'm more comfortable with. Maybe his GM will be able to make it after all. It's your wedding - if you think 2 nights before will be less stressful for you, I think you should keep it as you've planned it. Good luck!

Thanks. I feel a little selfish keeping it two days before, but all the poll results are for two days before!!! So, that makes me feel better!

I just feel bad that only two of his guys will be there, but at least they will all be able to hang out the whole next day together....

IMO, guys don't care about that stuff - just as long as they are there for the wedding and the bachelor party they're OK with it!

We had our RD on a Tuesday night and our wedding was Friday

I think you should do what's best for you. I was the same way, knowing I'd be freaking out if it were the night before. My one friend had hers the night before and had to leave immediately after the dinner ended to go to sleep. I liked going out with my friends to a bar after and having the whole next day to hang out with the friends and family who were in town. The night before was casual and I didn't feel bad going to sleep earlier than others. The majority of our BP was out of town and although no one missed our RD, some did miss other events, so of course that might be realistic someone might miss it if it is on Thursday. And so you can't plan for one or two people, you should plan it for the night that is best for you and FH. Hope that helps!

we're having ours probably on wed and we're getting married on fri...only b/c thurs is thanksgiving. If I were you I'd do it two days before. You're going to have enough running around to do the day/night before the wedding and if the rehearsal dinner is out of the way it's less have to worry about the day before.

I am so glad I posted here because I was almost going to change my mind, but then a little voice said 'ask the liweddings girls', and now that I did, I am glad that I have having it two days before- less to worry about!

Any other thoughts?

I am having mine the night before only because my church doesn't do them on wed nights (I am getting married on a Fri) and I didn't want to have it the week before because some of our BP doesn't live in the state...although it is going to be alot I decided I am just going to have to leave early so that I can get some sleep. I won't be able to sleep anyway but who knows.

Mine was 3 days before - thurs. night rehearsal for a Sunday wedding. I didn't really have a choice, it was when the church scheduled it. Whoever was able to be there was, and whoever wasn't just got some instruction the day of the wedding. It really wasn't that big of a deal.

We're planning on having ours the night before bc the church only does rehearsals on Thurs. anf Fri. and we're getting married on a Friday. I also can't have it the week before bc one of my BM is coming down from Canada and I want her to be there for the rehearsal w.o having her come down a whole week early.

I am planning on having mine the night before, simply because my parents won't be in town until the day before. If that wasn't the case, I would probably do mine a few days before also.

I had mine the night before but we didn't have a 'rehearsal' just a catered dinner at my mom's house which was great because it was, comfortable, relaxing & no one had to cook or clean up much. Exactly what I wanted!

wow - I feel like a freak - ours is 2 weeks before. We definitely didn't want to do it the night before, so we thought about the week before. But the week before is July 4th weekend and we figured some people would be out of town. So we did the week before that.

We are having ours 2 days before. I refuse to schedule anything but a little R&R together for the night before. It's going to be too crazy those last few weeks.

We are having ours either tues or wed (2-3 days before)
All my fh family is out of town but I know fmil wants to be home the night before so she can get up early to have her hair done out by her. I think it will be better anyways just because I know I'll be stressed the night before and I won't want to be out late.

I am doing it on a Wednesday and the wedding is on the Friday. The church sais it would be best. I dont have any bridal party members living out of state.
