I really want a relaxed and fun enviroment for the RD. FMIL wants to book it at San Souci, but I think that is too fancy. She asks me what a good alternative is and I cant think of anything. What do you think about San Souci -we would get three courses and the whole place to ourselves for fairly cheap.

Re: RD - San Souci?
I think you can downplay it...i was there for dinner the other night The sunset is amazing I wonder if you can move some of the smaller cocktail tables down by the dancefloor to make it more laidback and not so formal... I of course am biased b/c of my wedding being there...
BUT there are so may places esp. on the North Shore for RDs

Yea, I think Sunset would be nice (if we are there at the time) and FI likes the fact that the whole place would be ours and that its 2 minuts away from our ceremony location and 5 mionutes from most of my fams houses.

I was just there comment to the boyfriend how gorgeous the sunset is...are you having music?? I was just wondering what you would do w/ the dancefloor if you don't have music - but if you ahve a DJ/band then you are set - plus, maybe you can make is seem less formal than you are thinking but if you want a no-brainer, what about somewhere in Roslyn or Glen Cove??

Re: RD - San Souci?
Yea, see what I am looking for is a nice, not too long dinner where we can laugh and say our thank yous. Nothing 'too much' - I dont want to plan a mini-wedding. Plus my FILs dont dance or drink, so its not going to be a very 'happening' event in that sense. So the dancefloor would be wasted space.
Other places on her list were: La Ginestra Delicious Restuarant La Bussola
But those are all just too much. I really wish we could just rent out Forest Pizzeria in Glen Cove and have a fun pizza party - but I guess thats not an option.
UGH .... Anyone having a fun, casual RD in Glen Cove, Roslyn or Glen Head??

Our RD is going to be a pizza party at our house. Like you, we really wanted to keep it very casual. We're actually doing it the weekend beofe the wedding because we will only be having a quick rehearsal the day of. We figure we'll have our parents and the bridal party, we'll all eat, have cake and give out gifts. Our parents will probably leave a little early and then our friends will stay and get drunk with us! lol! Actually, our parents may stick around for that too!
