RD Speech??

We were actually just discussing this. FH says he will make one but wing it ! lol...

Our RD is this sat. so hope he is prepared lol..

Yeah see I wish FH would do it but he is painfully shy so he is like nope! Which leaves me to do it...I want to keep it short and sweet. Mine is Thurs night I guess I should get on this!

I would say just make it brief. Like thank everyone for everything and just about how excited you are to share this special time with each and every one of them

We did but we did wing it as well....DH's dad gave a little speech to thank everyone for joining us, etc (DH's parents hosted the RD), and then DH and I got up and thanked everyone, we gave out our gifts and as we did so we said a little something about each person and then gave them their gift individually. We did readers first, then FG, then alternated BM and GM, then did the MOH and BM, then our parents last. It took about 10 minutes I would say....we were both totally nervous but everyone said it went well!

We also wrote personal individual thank you notes to go with each gift, and I found that helped me so much b/c I had already spent some time thinking about each person and what it meant to me that they were there--kinda like prepping for the little speech!

I think I may as well!!! LOL I want to keep it really simple like thank you, love you all yayay!!

we actaully forgot to do ours. We had alot of OOT family come, and we where so excited to see them, that we just never did it. Ooopss!!!!

I felt bad that we didnt do it though, bc we worked really hard on it and didnt even once think about it that night. Luckily we paid for our RD and most of the wedding so we didnt offend anyone

See we are in the same situation we paid for everything...FH's mom has give us something toward the dinner but not the whole thing and honestly my mother has given me nothing but grief in planning this whole wedding it kills me to thank her for her love and support! It's the truth though. I will just suck it up and do it, hopefully I will have a glass of wine or 2 in me and losen up about it.

We both made speeches at the rd...not long ones - maybe like 2 mins each. But think of it this way...NO ONE is going to fault you for being nervous or anything that day. It's all about you and your FH, so even if you stand there and say the alphabet, people are going to think that it's heartfelt and sweet.

Don't sweat it - I was a little nervous, but it wasn't bad at all...chances are that you know everyone...and nerves and tears are cute at those times

just keep it short and simple. Thank everyone for coming and thank your bridal party and parents, if you have OOT guests thank them for making the trip. I had asked DH if he wanted me to do it, but he loves talking and wanted to do it.
