Re: Depressed....I LOVE YOU GIRLS

Thanks so much for understanding my frustration. Please don't take my post the wrong way. I'm thrilled for you girls that get to go to tahiti and have weddings at the greatest places. I think we all deserve it. I know that my time will come.

I am just starting out in my career and although I work for my father's company, he is making me work hard to earn a raise rather than just giving me one because that is what he had to do. As much as I hate to admit it, I think he's right to do it.

I wish my parent's would just turn around and say they'll pay for everything..but on the other hand I'm glad they didn't. I won't always have to feel as if I'm in debt to them for everything.

I'm sad for all of us who have to struggle...but I'm glad I'm not alone and that we can all come here and support one another.

I can't wait to meet some of you at the next get together.

Thanks for all the support girls...I couldn't wish for better cyber-friends.

Sweetie you are not alone

Your Father is defiantly doing the right thing and teaching you to work hard, which will benefit you your entire life. I am sure if you need anything, he would be there for you.

It is tough to struggle and I know it is frustrating, but I am 100% sure, it will all pay off in the end.

Awww anytime!

We all know what you are going through and can relate. I dont think anyone on this board was offended by anything you had to say because well... we all want the platnium wedding and know what your going through.

Its hard and hectic and crazy planning a wedding on your own but you know what thats what makes it YOUR wedding.

aw, you are not alone!!! there is a lot of us in your boat!!!! its very hard these days to survive and to have to pay for everything on our own is tuff.
i wish my parents could pay for the whole darn thing, but even then i would feel bad taking the money...they have done alot for me and my sisters over the years and so i cant complain, but yeah i get alittle 'oh why cant i be able to do that or have it like that?? in the long run...everything will work out and you'll enjoy it more knowing you did by yourself!!!

AWWW, YOU ARE NOT ALONE. ALTHOUGH MY FIANCE AND I ARE DOING THINGS WE WANT. IT IS AT AN EXPENSE. HE HAS BEEN SELLING A LOT OF HIS PERSONAL STUFF IN ORDER TO PAY FOR CERTAIN THINGS AND I HAVE HAD TO CUT BACK IN CERTAIN AREAS. IT'S ALL ABOUT SACRIFICING BUT ISN'T THAT WHAT MARRIAGE IS. YOU WILL GET THROUGH IT JUST LIKE WE ALL WILL. IN ALL HONESTY, MARRYING THE ONE YOU LOVE IS NOT ABOUT MATERIALS IT'S ABOUT TWO PEOPLE COMING TOGETHER AND SHARING THE BOND THAT BINDS THEM AS ONE. IN TEN TEARS FROM NOW, MOST PEOPLE WILL NOT CARE ABOUT THE MONEY SPENT. THEY WILL LOOK AT THEIR SIGNIFICANT OTHER (AND HOPEFULLY) REALIZE THAT IT WAS ABOUT THE MARRIAGE NOT THE WEDDING. I WISH YOU ALL THE BEST. JUST REMEMBER THAT YOUR WEDDING WILL BE PERFECT BECAUSE YOU ARE MARRYING THE ONE YOU LOVE AND THEN ALL WILL BE RIGHT IN THE WORLD (AT LEAST FOR THE RECEPTION, LOL!).

**sorry for the caps ladies. I forgot to turn it off. Forgive me this one time!

Stay strong you are not alone..
It would be too easy if our parents would pay for the whole thing.
But think you can look back at your wedding day and say wow I've done a great job

You are not alone here. . Believe me if my parents could just write out a check for the whole thing it would save alot of headaches. Stay strong and in the end your wedding wil be just like you always hoped for.

Woman!! I know what you mean!! I don't get it either! I make a very high salery and I can't afford 10k to go to Tahiti! No one's giving me a penny toward this wedding. Everyone does what they can do and in the end it's just one big party. The wedding lasts 5 hours but the marriage lasts a lifetime!

You are definately not alone. I know and many here know exactly how you feel. I struggle everyday thinking about the fact that I am 28 y/o and still at times have to depend on my parents. Although I am glad that they are there and very lucky, It really is hard. But I know one day I will be able to return all their sacrifices - once I finish residency and start making money!!!

I am thankful that they are able top provpde some support - But I am also thankful that I was and never have been given anything on a silver platter - because I learned to work hard to get where I am.

There are still times though ..... which is normal for all of us that I get upset/jealous of others that I know - like friends who have lavish weddings over 100,000 dollars that parents totally pay. - But then I think to myself - Is it really necessary??? I don't think so!!!!
