hey girls, as you all know i recently called off my engagment and engagement party. well stuart and I have been talking about getting back together, under the assumption that we will talk to his parents and tell them (nicely) to but out of our lives.
so my question is, if we get re-engaged, can we have another engagement party? i am crushed that i wasnt able to celebrate with everyone and would love to if we get re-engaged. stuart says its fine, but some ppl are saying it wouldnt be a good idea.
on the invites i would put something like this...
they are still engaged and happy but the first date just wasnt right so lets celebrate w/ a party for stuart and danielle b/c their future is so bright!

Re: re-engagement party?
had you already sent out the invited for the first party that was cancelled? and if so, what was the reason for cancelling the party? did the family/friends know that you had called off the engagement?
This is a tough call, you should talk to your parents about what to do

Re: re-engagement party?
Well, first of all, I'm glad you two are working things out.
Second, I say go for it. The wording is great, and I think you deserve to have the engagement party you originally planned to have.
Good luck and I hope it all works out for the best!

i'm so happy to see you danielle! and i'm so happy that you guys are working things out... that's wonderful news. I think this all depends on how widely spread the news was that you called off your engagement. were the e-party invites already sent out and then people were told that the party was cancelled and the engagement was off? or had you waited to spread the news assuming there was a chance of working things out? if it's the latter, i think you should move forward with the party. if not, i think some people's first thought might be, 'geez, another one?'

Re: re-engagement party?
welll...we called off the engagement party two weeks before the party was supposed to be (it was going to be this weekend)...everyone that my mom told already knew the situation btw stuarts parents and us, so it didnt come as much of a suprise. stuart told everyone that it was just postponed and i dont know what his mom said to everyone.

Re: re-engagement party?
Awh, congratulations that you are getting back together. I'm so glad it all worked out.
I think you should have an engagement party, but maybe just not right away. First work out everything with his family making sure they won't interfere. But I so think you guys should be able to celebrate your engagement. You should talk your family about it? I'm sure they will want to still celebrate it. Awh, Congrats!!!

Re: re-engagement party?
COngratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So happy to hear that your guys are back together!!
Since you already had an engagment party I don't think that a full party is a good idea, however if you want to commerate the re-enagement, then perhaps a small dinner with close friends and family then you can celebrate and discuss your intentions.
ETA: I didnt read your 2nd post about calling off the first enagement party..
I still think that something small is a good idea

im so happy to hear you guys are talking and trying to work this out.
i would definitly still have the engagement party. the wording you have for the inviations is perfect and if people ask why it was called of.. just say something had come up and you needed to push it back a few weeks.
its your wedding and one hiccup shouldnt ruin you being able to experiance all parts of the wedding from the engagement, to the engagement party and everything along the way. go for it and enjoy!

Re: re-engagement party?
I think you could definitely have an engagement party since you never got to have the one earlier. This is still your first one. It is not like you had two or something. I think it is gret that you are trying to work things out. I think it is really important that for you to remember that your marriage is between you and your husband. Even though families may be difficult you truly do not need their approval of blessing. Be happy if he is the one for you, you know that!

Re: re-engagement party?
I think that that's fine. If you two had actually had the party it would be a different story, but I say go for it. You want to celebrate, so that's what you should do!

Re: re-engagement party?
well i think people will be thinking all sorts of things especially if they are aware of the situation. i would be absolutly certain that everything can be worked out with the future in laws before i set another engagement party date.

we arent re-engaged yet. but thanks, it may eventually happen, but not until everything gets settled with his parents. which needs to be soon, bc we have a wedding to go to with them (and we will all be at the same table...a possibly very hostile situation!)

Re: re-engagement party?
I think since you never got to do it the first time why not have one now. So what things happen in life & you should definitely be able to celebrate your future!
BY THE WAY CONGRATS ITS GREAT THAT YOU ARE WORKING IT OUT!
