Hi Girls. I am under another name bc I dont want certain people to know about this situation.
I recently had my eparty and received a gift from a good friend that was obviously re-gifted! As soon as I opened the box me and FH and my mother stared in shock bc you could totally tell that the gift was taken out of the box and looked at and they decided they didnt want it! We are so annoyed bc we gave them a very generous gift for their eparty and this is what they give us?? And its not even something we would use!!!
So my question is....have you ever gotten something that was re-gifted or given something that was re-gifted? SHould i say anything, or just let it go????
Thanks girls!

Re: Re-gifting
Unfortunately I think you have to let it slide and just don't be as generous for the bridal shower if it hasn't passed yet

You have to let it slide. It's stinky but there isn't really much that you can do.

Re: Re-gifting
this may sound dumb...
but do you think that the box was just crappy ...like you know how the box that it comes in and even how it looks inside is all messed up...
could it be a possibility?? or is it definetly not the case??

Unfortunately you definitely have to let it slide. I've received multiple gifts from one of my aunts who well is a known regifter. For christmas in 2000 she gave me a disney ornament whih was a nice gift however it was dated 1997. People are nuts!

Re: Re-gifting
I would let it go, I had this happen at my shower, an aunt of mine regifted a cake saver now had I actually registered for one I would have totally been fine with it, but I didnt register for one. I think you should just stick it somewhere and forget about it, tho I wouldnt be very generous for hers

Re: Re-gifting
lolololol...i actually had my e-party a few weeks ago and i got a gift from tiffanys that was pretty but so not me. I went there to return it and just like i thought--it was regifted-it wasnt under my friends name or her husbands name. i figured that much b/c she got married a few weeks before my party. lol..i ended up putting another $100 with it and bought something i loved! you do have to let it go--dont say anything!

Re: Re-gifting
are you sure she didnt maybe take the item out to inspect it? Hey it could have been worse, one of the brides on here got a book or something and there was an inscription inside dedicated to someone else! I forget who it was.

Re: Re-gifting
I never re-gift anything because I'm always afraid I'll give it back to the person who gave it to me... how embarrassing that would be!
I've definitely received re-gifts from other people though.... quite a few at my shower in fact... oh well, it doesn't bother me much.

Re: Re-gifting
What do you mean by re-gifted?? THat someone else gave them a gift then they passed it on to someone else??? Maybe this person didnt have the money to get you something else. I think its the thought that counts. How do you know it was re-gifted? Maybe Im not getting this, pl explain

Re: Re-gifting
Are you positive it was a re-gift?? Maybe someone returned it to the store that way and then your friend bought it... give her the benefit of the doubt, it will just make it easier on you.. Some things you have to let slide... Unfortunately, I think this is one of them.
