Re-Post from 04 Board: Price of Hair and Make-UP

I want to use Michael from the Jewel Box in Bellmore for my hair and makeup. I booked him a long time ago and I just called for prices. He told me that brides are $300 and mother of the bride and bridesmaids are $135.
This is for both hair and make-up. Is that what it really costs? The $135 seemed kind of reasonable to me but the $300 put me in a little shock. He will come to my house to the hair and make-up so that is a plus. Also, Do I tip him? I know that sounds like I am being cheap, but it just seems like so much money. If I tip 20%, then that's $60 and I would be giving him a total of $360?! I know he will do a perfect job so I want to use him.. Ladies, please give me some input here. Thanks! Kelly

That seems very high. The only reason it may be that high is that you are getting married on a Friday. You are probably compensating him for taking off work. I was going to have someone from a salon come out and I was told that I would have to pay for that persons salary plus the services. I would look around.
