I heard that if you teach summer school you cannot take off a day even if you are sick. True?

that probably depends on the district... they might not have subs on call to take your place...

in my district, you can call in sick and they have subs to cover for you - but then you don't get paid for that day.

They really frown upon it since your only working for 30 days, but if you do take a day, you just don't get paid. I had to take a day a few years ago during summer school when my step grandmother died. What are they gonna do?? Sh1t happens!!

thats true- jaime and I worked in the same district. If you call in, you wont get paid and they'll just split your kids up into different classes. They didnt have subs for our district..

Are you doing summer school this year?? Do you know if Mr. Len is? I haven't talked to him in months. I have a gift here yet for his baby. Poor kid will be an adult by the time I get it to him!!

OMG..I got a call the other day, from the EM teachers asking for my support for contract stuff. I can not believe they still have me on their list. I thought it was a little rude and rubbing it in my face when I got the message. And the woman that called, knew I was not there anymore and knew what happened to me, she was in the classroom across the hall. I am a little po'd at that one.
