So FMIL called me today, she got back from Aruba yesterday. She said our hotel is great, but the Riu is phenomenal. The occidental was less expensive by a good amount if I remember correctly. So I emailed my travel agent to see if we could switch and to get a quote. I went on the Riu website and I can get the same amount of days for only $300 more!! I'm kinda excited, but also scared that I won't be able to change it. Does anyone know the policy about this? Also can I totally cancel everything with the travel agent and do it on my own??

I don't know the policy but I stayed at the Occidental when I went to Aruba and it was very nice -- not at all lesser than the Riu!

I agree - the Occidental is great!! I did want to book at the Riu initially but it was way too expensive. Hearing this from FMIL makes me think I should make the switch.
Anyone else have any thoughts about the TA situation??

hi im a travel agent and it depends what their policy is.. did u book the trip with them already and do you have travel insurance?
