re: second wedding

Hi.... Hoping you girls who have been out there looking can advise me! We are planning our second wedding for 9/1 of this year. I know I know!!! Talk about last minute. Therefore, I know it cant be at any of those popular wedding places as they wont have the day available. We really want it to be on the water. It will be small.... about 40 people who are close to us. Ideally I would LOOOOOVE to have a clambake with a bonfire afterwards! But would settle for a restaurant on the water or beach. Any ideas?? Thank you in advance.

You'd be surprised how many places may have that date open. It's worth calling to ask!

I am pretty sure that Gurney's Inn has a clambake/bonfire wedding deal and of course it is on the water-

Maybe you can try the Riviera in Massapequa? I think they have several rooms, maybe one can accomodate your estimated # of guests- and they're on the water too.

Maybe try the Snapper Inn? Its a restaurant on the water, and I know they have a little pavilion there too. Not sure for how many people though.

Maybe at the Sunken Meandow Pavillion?

Smithtown Landing has a small room with a deck that faces the river. That is the deck we are getting married on!! I liked the idea of a beach, but when I see realistic pics of veils flying and hair in people's faces, I htought this would be the best thing. Ask for Lisa, she is the absolute best!!!!!

Lombardi's on the sound in Port Jefferson, (my RD was there and we booked that only 3 months before the wedding)
Three Villiage Inn (My BS was there and it was booked last minute)
Old Field Club (They have lots of dates open for 07)

But I don't know whether you were thinking north shore or south shore nassau or suffolk.
Best of Luck!

The Riviera only does one event at a time... and I thought it was just one room. My cousin got married there (albeit a few years ago) and there is only one main room + a bridal suite upstairs. Her CH was supposed to be outside, but since it rained, it was in the same room as the reception... so I'm pretty sure that means there wasn't another room to hold it in. Maybe things changed or she requested it that way, though!

I am having my second wedding at Gurney's. The ceremony is on the beach and the reception and cocktail hour are outside. We are having it on a thursday this aug'07 so we got 20% off for having it during the week. It is a cocktail wedding, buffet style. They are very accomodating!

Gurney's minimum is 75 people for a friday & sunday but you could ask to have it in the restaurant that might be different.
