DH and i are going to start looking for a coop in our neighborhood. I have NO idea where to start- get a mortgage? Find a RE broker? Can I have more than one broker? it already sounds stressful!!

Re: Real Estate- where do i start?
Start out by going and get pre approved for a mortgage to find out how much you can afford. Then go to a RE with the preapproval and they will help you.
You can go to as many RE agents you want- but as long as they arent in the same office.
Good luck!

Re: Real Estate- where do i start?
when i bought my coop, i went to MLSLI.com and browsed the apartments there .... when i found one i liked, i just clicked to contact the RE agent through them.
but yes, get pre-approved first

after you get pre-approved, check out redfin. it is a great source and you can view things on a map!

Re: Real Estate- where do i start?
Get preapproved for a mortgage so you know what you're looking at as far as a monthly payment with the interest rate.
Check out mlsli.com to see listings in your area... go to open houses.
When you go to open houses you'll meet a ton of agents. Some are annoying as all get up and others are super nice... that is how I found someone I wanted to work with...
