I have a great list for things I need to do for the wedding, but not for what I have to do to be married. For instance, right now my beneficiaries on all of my major documents are my parents, I need to change that to my FH I'm sure. I know I'll need to -
Make a will with FH Add FH to house deed? Life Insurance with FH (he already had a policy and added me to his) FH as beneficiary on 401k
Do you have anything to add to these lists, I really have no clue where to start and haven't thought anything about this?
Share if you're comfortable - anyone doing anything like a pre-nup? We have nothing that really needs a pre-nup, but I'm wondering if I should be doing anything specific to protect my assets in some way. I'm a really good saver and have really good credit - FH, not so much. Any help would be great :)

Re: 'Real World' List
I have no house, no life insurance, and no pre-nup needed! lol But I know there is a way for you to retain the money you've already put into the house prior to marrying. For instance the down payment and the past x amount of years of mortgage and tax payments represent an investment pre marriage and would theoretically mean a larger portion of the home is yours. Its an awkward situation to talk about, especially right before getting married, but remember you just do what makes you and FH happy and comfortable, and talk to a professional (you mentioned making a will so I guess talk to the lawyer your using for details). As far as being good at saving $, once your married any savings accounts are considered an asset of marriage. You can of course have separate accounts if that's what you want, but in the end its 'technically' all both of yours. Hope that helps!

Re: 'Real World' List
Ahh I haven't even thought about the life insurance stuff yet. Our house is already split 50/50 and that's our only big asset so we did not do a prenup. I did read that you can do a post-nup later on so should one of us start making a ton more or kids get involved or whatever then we may do that. I'm all for it, it protects you BOTH!
