Realistic Budget for 'The Dress'

I know there really is no such think in the Metro NY area but what is realistic for a nice dress done in silk with a little lace and beading?

I just started looking (5 salons and counting) and have seen some nice gowns in poly satin with ok lace for around $750.00, I have also seen some georgeous gowns in silk satin with lace and beading for $2500.00 plus. Isn't there anything in between? What have you ladies found out there?

Try Jasmine Bridals (www.jasminebridal.com). They have beautiful and unique gowns for very reasonable prices. All the gowns I tried on were $650 - $975 from this designer. They also have a very nice bridesmaids selection.

Do you guys think that its important that the photographer is familiar with my wedding site (should he/she have worked there before)?

When we were having lunch at precana, we ended up talking to another couple about our photographer. They had been seriously considering him and when we spoke highly based on our other family members' experiences in the past with our photographer, they were sold..they said they were going to stop by the studio right after precana ended. It was nice to be able to help them out.
