Reality set in today
We took our Birthing Basic Course today at the hospital we are delivering at. It was great and although I already knew most of the stuff they went over (stages of labor and such,) my husband found it very helpful and informative without being too much information at the same time. There was a range in due dates, anywhere from Feb 28 up through May something. I felt pretty big compared to the other women, however, I do have to say that I think that I moved around much better than them.
It helped me realize that exercise, I think, has really helped me stay somewhat in good shape for getting up and down and just walking (OK running out for our lunch break) in general.
I am very happy that my hospital is very supportive of breastfeeding mothers and did go over basic information regarding possible sugar water and bottle feedings. They don't do it unless the blood sugar drops in the infant during the first couple of hours and they won't give the baby a pacifer unless you give them permission. The baby is clearly marked as a breastfed baby as well. I am also happy over some other things they went over regarding their policies from the moment you walk in to the moment you deliver to the moment you leave with your baby.
Honestly, I am happy that I took the class with the hospital that I am delivering at because I think it gives you a great perspective on what exactly to expect and how exactly they handle most situations.
Now, I just have to set up an appointment with a nearby pediatrician and see how that goes. I am hoping that it works out, because I could literally walk to the Ped's if I wanted to in the summer.
