REALLY PO'd

id be pissed too. Maybe he doesnt realize how much more money you will have to spend on people you dont know-fh and i are paying for our wedding so we are pretty much on board with the guest list. If his sister thinks it is so rude maybe she should offer to pay for the guest of each single person-throughout my wedding planning it has amazed me how many people have opinions of things that I 'must have' but are not offering to pay for. If you are going to invite single people with guests I dont think you should allow one side to do it and not the other..even if some people understand it will cause drama

Ugh, frustrating!

The guest thing is a sensitive issue. Just like the inviting kids thing.

You need to sit and discuss.

first, if you CAN afford it, it makes no difference. Invite them all.

Second, why do you care what FSIL thinks??? Its not HER paing for the wedding right???

me and my FH decided no +1 except in a very circumstances. Too bad if someone is pissed off. I dont care. They are not paying for the wedding.

Talk to him and tell him what you are feeling. Money is a real issue now, so yu have to stick to your gun.

I think its TOTALLY ok to invite single people without as guest, as long as they will know other people at the wedding (esp that they could sit with)
Alot of my coworkers are single..they all came solo, sat together and had a blast.

Now if i was inviting someone single who didn't know anyone else at the wedding, THEN they should be allowed to bring a guest..

All our friends understood this... besides, if we DID invite all the single people with a guest, we would have had to cut 1/2 of our friends OFF the guest list....

I think it's fine to invite single people without a guest because IMHO, I think there is too much pressure placed on being coupled up. Why can't people just be single and enjoy it?

PLUS, financially, if we invited EVERY person that is single with a guest to our wedding, we'd have basically an extra 150 people that we don't know!

I think you and FH need to sit down and talk ASAP.

ditto.. you and FH need to talk about the situation. it should be about what you and FH want, not what his sister wants.
