really random Q.... onion rings haha

What kind of dipping sauce are you supposed to use for onion rings? like a zesty sauce? is there a sauce out there that tastes like the bloomin' onion sauce from the outback?

FH made onion rings last night and we used ketchup, hot sauce and bleu cheese (separately, not mixed together) but he really wants sauce like the one at the outback.

what do you use?

just googled the outback recipe and found this:


Dipping Sauce
1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 teaspoons ketchup
2 tablespoons cream-style horseradish
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon dried oregano
Dash ground black pepper
Dash cayenne pepper

wow, thanks! The only ingredients on that list that we actually have are the ketchup, salt, oregano, pepper and possibly paprika. I'll see if FH wants it badly enough to make it from scratch.

The bleu cheese we used was the fat free 15 cal chunky salad dressing and it's pretty good and relatively healthy for dip

i could use bleu cheese as a dip for anything...so yummy! my guess is that what makes the outback sauce taste so unique is the horseradish.....it probably gives it the 'kick' :)

I really don't know the sauce ingredients but I just wanted to tell you that I absolutely LOVE onion rings and especially the blooming onion!!!!
