when we booked the RH last year in December, we weren't able to set up an appointment for the tasting because someone was always busy or the hall didn't have a wedding going on with the same menu.
i found out from the RH that they had a wedding with our menu going on in June. of course my mother was too busy. then my parents live upstate, NY during July & August so we couldn't do it then.
i told my mother i wanted to set it up in September & every weekend she had an excuse. so last week i called the hall & the only available day they have is Saturday, November 7th at 5:00.
i don't want to wait until the beginning of next year because since the wedding is in April, i am going to be busy in January, February & March. well my brother & SIL are going to Vegas on Sunday, November 8th so my mom says the 7th is no good for her because she has to prepare since she will be watching my brothers kids for a week.
this is such BS. i am sick & tired of her putting my brother & his kids first. so i got mad at her & said this is more important. which it is. my brother & SIL can go on vacation at any time.
never mind that my parents r paying for the RH & they want the food tasting.

Re: really upset
my suggestion -- call your RH. explain the situation briefly.
YOU GUYS GO!!!!!
then next year, go again with your parents (just make sure this is okay with the RH)
honestly. i really dont think it should be that big of a deal...and its worth your sanity to at least ask the question.
hth
good luck hun

Re: really upset
Definitely just go yourselves. If she puts up a fuss let her know that you gave her a variety of dates and none were good enough for her, so you moved on to ensure your wedding will be the way you want it.

ITA. Go to the tasting with FH, decide on your menu, and the 'rents can eat their hearts out. Pun intended.

Re: really upset
If it's your parents who want the tasting then i'd just tell them that Nov. 8 is the last opportunity before the wedding that they will have to go for a tasting. Then, if they really want to go, they will. If not, then they just won't have a tasting... and you can still go with FH if you want....

Re: really upset
Go without them... tell them you can't reschedule and they either go for a couple of hours or they can't go to a tasting. They have to eat, right? Seriouly...what if you don't like your tasting? Then what? You should have one sooner than later, with or without them and enjoy yourself.

Re: really upset
Go without them... I schedule stuff and if people can make it great! If not, it stinks, but there is nothing you can do about it.
I'm sorry you feel like your wedding isn't a priority... Maybe if you tell her this is something that is realy important to you and just explain it that way she'll come around...

I am sorry you are going through this.
Is there a reason why the RH cant do a tasting when there isnt a wedding going on? You are paying them alot, they should be more flexible
