reason? tech question

I am not sure about the .net, but I have a friend who works for a non-profit organization and her work e-mail ends in .org. Most government websites are .org rather than .com.

.org indicates government or non-profit agency.

.net - not sure.

I'm still trying to figure out how the man's firm got .biz.

I thought the government sites end in .gov

Non-profits are .org

No idea about .net

Found this online:

.NET was established in 1985. Although dot-net generally stands for network or internet it has no restrictions on who can register one.

So I guess it's like 'miscellaneous'.
