Receiving Line

I'm Kinda confused by this whole concept. I guess I'm just supposed to know what this is, but, I don't. Someone please tell me what a receiving line is and when I'm supposed to do it. Thanks.

Usually at the end of the wedding ceremony, you, your new husband, both sets of parents, and the wedding party all line up so that the ceremony guests can give you their wishes and kisses.

you can add or delete people from the receiving line...obviously the fewer on the line, the faster it'll go

then, when that's done, you and your husband walk out of the ceremny area and your guests throw rice/petals/bubbles, whatever
