Receiving line ??

How many of you are having one at the church?

I'm not sure if we will have enough time to stop somewhere for pictures (due to lots of traffic on our weekend) if we have one.

Is it rude NOT to have one?

I don't think you are rude not to have one. I am not really sure what I am doing. But if you are concerned with traffic interfering with pics, then I would not have the receiving line and just talk to everyone at the reception.

We're having one but our wedding is on the smaller side. Also, so many guests do not come to the church. (I don't like that part.) If we were having a larger wedding, I still think we would have one. So many people have come to expect them.

My FI and I will receive guests during the cocktail hour. We have a big break in between ceremony and cocktail hour, so there will be plenty of time for pictures.

I don't want to miss our cocktail hour, so we are skipping the rec. line at the church. We plan to informally greet our guests at the cocktail hour and also make our way around the reception.

We had a receiving line but only with me, DH, moms and dads- no BP. It went quickly.
We didn't do a big intro into the hall so that is why we opted to do the receiving line.

We contemplated this too because of our time issue. I had 200 people our wedding and I was very surprised...but it really didn't take that long.

AND.........

What about me???

I want to get to kiss your beautiful face!!!!!!

I don't think it's rude. Just make a tactful announcement and/or put it in the programs that the bride and groom will greet their guests @ the reception. You just have to make sure to hide yourselves so no one gets to you and then before you know it you'll have 100 people coming up to you and it turns into one anyway! LOL When we were originally getting married @ church, we weren't going to have one-it takes too much time-especially if you're pressed for it and you want to get to take pictures!

We do not want one but I know that one is going to form. I think it is rude to not at least acknowledge each guest that came to church to see you get married. Some of them might not be invited to the reception but made an effort to come and see you get married and a thank you I think is only right.

we had one, it didn't take long at all. it's good we did have one, because at the reception we only made it to about 2 tables to greet our guests. we tried to get around but we kept getting pulled away. so at least we were able to greet those who came to the church.

We had one but with only me, my DH, and our parents. I'm so glad we did because we didn't get a chance to say hello to everyone at our wedding. We only had 112 guests and the line went quickly.
