I was planning on doing my receiving line after the ceremony as i've seen done before. then someone said to me how she did hers at the CH. I thought it might work doing it that way as the guests are leaving the cocktail room and head into the reception room- that way i know we got everyone and i'm not running around the reception trying to. Also at the church if not everyone is there- i don't want to miss anyone. What is everyone's plans/ suggestions? Thanks.

Re: Receiving line question
Hmmm, I really like that CH idea, get it out of the way and catch everyone as they head out of the CH. That's a pretty good idea, especially if you want (like I do) to take pics at the church and get over to OWG after the ceremony's over, rather than do the line. Also, not everyone will be at the ceremony, necessarily. Good plan, I think!

Re: Receiving line question
At our CH they called us and the BP out a few minutes before the guests so we could get ready to enter the ballroom. If you do your recieving line then, your guests will wait a little longer for you if you want to freshen up after kissing all of those people hello! Just a thought to keep in mind!

Re: Receiving line question
I think its a good idea and a bad idea to do it at CH.
Good b/c then you get to see CH and mix and mingle
BAD because you may not get to everyone. At least if you do it after your ceremony its one full swoop and you are done.
Either way you cant go wrong but I highly recommend doing it after your ceremony

Re: Receiving line question
I think people expect it after the ceremony....also, it sounds like you're saying to do it as ppl leave the CH to go into the reception room...I think that would slow down that process way too much and eat into your party time...def wouldn't do it.

Re: Receiving line question
i would recommend doing it after the ceremony, it might be more time consuming to do it during the cocktail hour causing you to miss out on more. i just personally prefer when people do it after the ceremony so i have a chance to say congrats to them right away

Re: Receiving line question
What about as they go into the CH, not doing it right at the marriage site but outside the doors of the RH/CH room? Just thinking out loud, Im' trying to figure this out too.

ITA.. after the ceremony is much easier because you may want the extra minutes at the CH to take last minute photos.. just another thought.
Plus, its a great feeling to know its out of the way and that you got to greet almost everyone atleast once!

Re: Receiving line question
we did ours during ch because we were limited on time in the church to take pictures afterwards, bc they had confessions shortly after our wedding

Re: Receiving line question
I think this is hard for those girls doing a cermony that is not on the same site as the hall. If your ceremony is at the hall, then you know you will get every person after the ceremony. With a church wedding, so many ppl dont go to both, and you will have to do this twice, once at church and then again at the hall

Re: Receiving line question
We didn't do a receiving line after the church. I wanted to have as much time as possible to take pictures. We went around during the reception to say hi to everyone. We ate a little at each course and then ran around. It really wasn't bad at all.

Re: Receiving line question
We will be doing ours at the reception as well. I really would like to have a toast with my close family and bridal part right after the ceremony and also get a little private time with FH. I know my nerves will probably be shot before the ceremony so i just need a little breather after.
