Recent occurence that made you smile...

Here is something that made me smile yesterday

I was walking back from a dr appt to my office and I saw a homeless lady sitting on the corner in front of Starbucks. I saw a middle aged well dressed lady come out with a big frappucino, whip cream and all, and tap the homeless lady on the shoulder and hand it to her. The homeless lady looked up in amazement and smiled and said thank you.

A few people that noticed, I could tell by the looks on their faces, were amazed that there are still some good people in this world. Especially in Manhattan where people will push you down in the middle of the street and trample you to get to the train - but here a nice person took the time to spend $4 bucks on a coffee for someone less fortunate.

That's nice.

I saw some little girl walking out of a restaurant to night but not without stopping to say good bye to everyone she passed.

I sprained my ankle and was walking with a cane ( and will for another week) and limping like cazy. people kept on jumping in front of me to hold the doors for me us I was leaving Au bon Pain/bathroom/people's office's/etc. Especially Au Bon Pain! I mean: those people don't even know me and they went out of their way to make sure they can hold the door for me, poor little injured girl! it was so nice and helpful!

Teaching story (of course):

A new kindergarten class - I'm reading a book called 'Don't Eat the Teacher', and the cover looks like a shark took a bite out of it...After reading the title and author's name, I ask the students if they know what the author does...so of course one student blurts out 'Arthurs EAT books!!!' Too cute!

Re: Recent occurence that made you smile...

this was years ago...but I will always remember it...

it was one of the many times they had construction on the northern state by the meadowbrook...someone was pulled over and we were moving like slugs...but then he put his blinker on...so I let him in...no big deal right...well his bumper stick said 'Commit Random Acts of Kindness' and I smiled to myself thinking that I had just committed one!! well then I noticed this man's car every morning...and sometimes in the afternoon coming home...

while at my parents house...my sister and I went to Staples in East Norhtport...(pretty far from where I would see him in Western Nassau) and in the parking lot I see his car...all I could do is yell to my sister 'RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS!!! RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS'

but this weekend I couldn't stop laughing after DH fell in the mud...all I could see were his feet in the air...he was OK...so it was OK to laugh...

I started a temp job for a company I temped for a long time ago. I walked into a different location and still saw some familiar faces. I didnt think many would remember me because I was here for 2 months and I havent been back in 6 months, but as soon as people saw me they gave me a hug, asked how my wedding plans were, how my family is, and what have I been up to.

it was nice to come in to such a warm welcome

I made a yummy dinner last night on a first try at something new, and my DH called his mom, dad, and grandmother to tell them about it. I overheard him say 'I love her so much, she makes me so happy, I am so proud she is my wife'.

right after FH and I closed on our house yesterday (it took us 5 months to close- there were some problems with the sellers- and it was really bumming me-- but we finally made it!)
So as we got in the car, he hands me this card. It was a 'congrats on your new home' card. I opened it and it played music! 'Our house, in the middle of our street... our house...' and he wrote inside how much he loved me and how he bought this house for me.... It was the cutest, sweetest thing. It made me cry-- and of course smile!
