Reception Dress?

Reception Dress?

Okay, here's the background:
I'm pretty nontraditional and never really pictured having a big white wedding. Somehow it's happening, but I'm really happy for it. I also never pictured myself wearing a big, white dress...and I ended up trying one on, loving it and buying it.

I thought I was happy with it, but this weekend, I went shopping with my mom for MOB dresses. I happened to see this dress and I really love it.

However, I'm not entirely sold on the idea of a reception dress. I love the idea of being able to dance easily, not worry about needing help going to the batheroom, etc. But I wonder if it's bridal looking enough or if I'll just end up looking like a guest.

Any advice?

it is very pretty...for me personally i am not going to do the reception dress idea...but if this is what you want...do it...and everyone there knows who the bride is regardless of the dress

That is pretty much what FH said to me...I can't really decide what I want though! I was really hoping that he would have a strong opinion...he did when I said I didn't want a white dress at first and was happy when I changed my mind...but this, like many other wedding plans/ideas, he has no opinion on!

Reception dress aside, I think the first dress is just more flattering to your body than the 2nd one. If i were going to do a non-traditional reception dress, I'd do silver!!

That may be because the dress was about four sizes too small on me yet I somehow squeezed in! Ha. Silver does not look good on me at all, though. I tried on a few other dresses, but I'm still undecided on what to do.

I just am WAY too indecisive.

the Reception dress is super cute! If you can fit it into your budget go for it.

Ultimately its your decision but I like #1 much better and am not crazy about the idea of a reception dress.

I can't tell what time your wedding is, but what about #2 as an after-party dress or a rehearsal dinner dress? It's cute and bridal but not WEDDINGY if you know what i mean. it would also be cute on your honeymoon if you want to wear it again

We're going caving, snorkeling, and hiking in Belize for our HM, so white fancy dresses aren't on the itinerary!

I agree that I'm not sure if it's weddingy...but I love the idea of being so comfortable, but still so feminine.

You won't have any nice dinners at all on your honeymooon? What about a rehearsal dinner? That's a perfect RD dress!
