Reception Entrance question - help!
So, my father passed away 2 years ago and I am having a hard time with certain things...1 of them being the reception intros.
Does my mom get introduced and come in ALONE?
Do I have one of my aunts (who happens to be my Godmother) get introduced with her?
I don't know what to do...
Any advice would be so appreciated.
:)

What about having your mom and your fiance's mom walk in on the arms of your fiance's dad?I was in a wedding where the groom's mom had passed away. His dad came in with the bride's parents - mom was in the middle on each dad's arm. I thought that was nice.

I think whatever makes you feel more comfortable works. There really are no set rules. My family is a mess. My father passed away when I was ten (wasn't close to him anyway) and my mother has decided not to attend my wedding. In place of my family, I will be having my aunt stand in. His mother will walk down alone and so will my aunt. One of my best friends will be walking me down the aisle as well as doing the 'father/daughter' dance with me. That way, he can enjoy a dance with his mother and not feel bad. As for the entrance for him, he will just be joining the wedding party. Best of luck

My dad has also passed away and at my sister's weddings she was introduced with her brother. I think with her sisters is a great idea, especially if it's also your godmother. Sounds like a very sweet idea :)

My father was the only one of my family that attended my wedding. My sister-in-law walked in with my dad

All good ideas - thank you, ladies!FH's parents are divorced and re-married...and since they're from Illinois, we don't see them often, it may be weird for my mom.
I think the idea of having her come in with her sister may work...but I also don't want to upset any OTHER family members.........
We shall see.

Re: Reception Entrance question - help!
Do you have any brothers that could walk her down the aisle? Or uncles? I agree that it might be weird for your mom to walk in with a man that she's not related to/in a relationship with, especially on your in-law's side. What about your maternal grandparents? Or any other close male relative?
Who's walking her down the aisle during the ceremony?

My FH's mom passed away 8 years ago, so his dad will walk in with his mother in law (my fh grandma from his mom side). My mother raised me as a single parent so one her brothers is walking in with her and also walking my down the aisle. It's all I could do to keep it in pairs as suggested and also for our family members that are alone didnt have to walk alone. I'm sorry to hear about your Dad. hope this helps.

Thanks ladies.I think I've decided that I am going to have my dad's brother - my godfather - walk her in. He's really been amazing since my dad's passing and I think it's really the best way to honor my dad and my uncle...and make my mom comfortable.
Thank you all so much. :)

That sounds like a perfect way to honor your dad & uncle! I'm sure your godfather will be very honored as well!

Yes, during my brother's ceremony, my father walked in with his mother in law, and then my mother walked in with my stepfather...During the reception my mother walked in with my stepfather and my father ended up walking in with my aunt (his sister)...It worked out nicely :) I think that is a great idea, to have your mother walk in with your uncle(Godfather)...Good luck with your wedding, everything will work out perfectly!!! :)
