I am having a really hard time finding a reception hall for my wedding. I have looked at so many places and all of the ones that I seem to like require high minimums for the number of guest. I am looking for a very simple place, however I also want my guests to drive up to the hall and enjoy the surroundings. Any suggestions?

Re: reception hall
Swan club is reasonable from what I heard. And the grounds are sooo pretty in the summer.

I agree with the Swan Club recs. Not only are the grounds beautiful, but it is in a very nice area so the drive there is beautiful as well.
They are rather reasonable (I was surprised). It is worth a visit.

Re: reception hall
Try the Stewart Manor Country Club in Franklin Square. (www.stewartmanor.com) I think minimum is 100. We had 220 and it didn't feel at all crowded. 1 wedding at a time, great food, great price (we paid $65pp), great service.
Good luck, Donna 10/5/03

I had the same problem. We really wanted a Sat night wedding but had no intention of inviting 200 people. So, luckily we found the Glen Island Harbour Club in Westchester (about 30 minutes from Nassau County). They only required 125 for a Saturday night: www.gi-hc.com

Hey we have the same date! So how many people are you looking to have and do you have a preference for nassau/suffolk/queens? Have you checked out Timber Point Country Club? They're part of Lessings and right on the water. The surroundings are so pretty. I believe they had lower minimums depending on the night.

What about Smithtown Landing? If you go on to the Lessing's website, you can see all of their sites. I think there is a link under vendors and reception halls.

How about Stonebridge Country Club. I was in the same boat. We looked at 9 places. We were looking for simple but elegant. We had a minimum of 100 people for our Sat. night wedding. It is probably less on any other night. They did nothing but bent over backwards for us. Definitely worth looking at. Our guests loved SB because it was a wedding at somewhere new and different!!!
