I wanted to know if you could recommend a good place for less than 40 pp for about 80 people. If i have to sacrifice time of year, that is fine. I'm on a very small budget. Trying to decide between ny or destination wedding. thanks

Re: reception hall for under 40 pp
you might want to try a Knight of Columbus. I don't know where you are looking but my sister just had her babies christening at the on in NHP on Marcus Ave and the upstairs room is very pretty. I also heard the on in Oceanside is beautiful. Or you might want to try some area resturants. they sometimes have rooms to accomodate large parties. Carmellas (italian) in Franklin Square has a few rooms.
Good Luck!

Your best bet may be a private room of a restaurant.

Will that include tax?? I would say try a restaurant. There are knights of columbus' in lindenhurst & bellmore, or is it merrick/seaford??? that are nice,,,,but they require 100person min. (I learned that when we researched for e-party.)
When we decided on smaller guest list and needed a place with a low minimum,,,we did not find any with that low of a price,,,but I did not call a lot of restarants. I also wanted to keep my 9/5/04 (sunday) date.

The knights of columbus in Oceanside is beautiful!! My cousin got married there. If you have a member of the family who is a Knight you get a discount as well. Try on a Sunday afternoon. I heard that the Stewart Manor Country club on a sunday afternoon can go as low as $49.. So it doesn't hurt to try some places out and see if they can work within your budget. Before you sign anything, try to haggle.

FYI SMCC only does 1 wedding on sundays,,,you pick the start time. That is why we went with them originally,,,got a good price for a sunday wedding, in september...but was $65pp. Too bad the rest of my experience with them went down hill from there for me.

There is an KOC in Oceanside that does a sit down dinner with top shelf open bar for $35pp. The hall is very pretty too.
Good luck

Did you try Riccardo's by the Bridge yet? Or maybe even the smaller room at Sunset Harbour in East Patchogue? How about La Grange Inn (I think that's the name)? I also agree with the KOC or VFW idea. There's a pretty nice one Bethpage on Central Ave.

Just thought of 2 more. Don't know the prices for sure though. Avanti on Sunrise Hwy in Massapequa (I think -- could be considered Seaford) and Imperial Manor in Hicksville. Good luck with this!! Please let us know when you find a reception site.... I know you've been having a tough time with this!!
Good luck!!
ETA: Another one: Durrow's of Glendale also in Queens

Try Pompei in West Hempstead. I just went to a bridal shower there and they had a wedding going on in their bigger room right next door. I am sure they are reasonable. The food was excellent!!
