Reception hall openings-please share

Is is possible to book a hall in Nov/Dec and be married the following July/Aug?? Are there openings at many places?

in what area? i think it's possible, but your date/time might need to be flexible...

preferably nassau- i'd like august but any weekend in july/august would do

I started looking at halls in October 2009 and one hall had one oppening in August 2010. I was primarily looking at November, but even November was pretty booked solid and most halls only had one Friday/Saturday/Sunday opening for November 2010. August is more popular I think, so it might go faster.

I will say Leonard's had many more dates available than any other hall.....maybe you can try them?

oh wow! thanks for your help- engagement is prob within 2 months and was wondering if a summer wedding would be possible.

I think it really depends on how popular the hall is. We booked our July 2011 wedding in May 2010, We had asked for May dates and our hall didn't have any left! And they only had one June date left too!! So I'd say you might have a problem if its a more popular hall, but you should definitely call around now and see what dates the places you like have open.

We started looking in July 2010 for next July (7/9/11). Some places had rooms available but they were usually the 2nd choice room. You will have better luck in August. We moved our wedding to the Sunday 7/10 to get what we wanted and it is also much cheaper than a Saturday! Call around and ask. They will tell you if they have your date. It never hurts to make a phone call. I called and looked at tons of places!

Its possible! You can get lucky! I booked my hall in November of 09. I was really hoping to get October 2nd. October is very popular month and the 2nd is a popular day because of the date (10-2-10).

I fell in love with my hall and the only date they had open in October was the 2nd. We feel like it was meant to be because of that!

You never know!

I really appreciate all your input!! I guess I just have to be open with date and locations...i'm gonna start looking around and see what places we should look into

If you're flexible about date, time and party size, it might even work in your favor... by then it's possible halls and vendors might be trying to fill in whatever still isn't booked. Just keep in mind you may not have your first pick of photogs, bands, dj's etc as well, as many of those vendors are booked already. But good luck, it's still very doable.

Flexibility is key! I'm not flexible with my date at all....and thats one reason why i'm starting to look at places now and my wedding isnt until 2013. I think if your really flexible you shouldnt have a problem, but 6 months is cutting it pretty close. Good luck!

It's definitely possible!! My friend looked in December 2009 and just got married in August. It was at the Venetian Yacht Club. HTH!

Anything is possible! We booked Jericho Terrace in February '09 for our June 2010 wedding. It's definitely good to be flexible if possible. I'm sure you can find something. Good luck!
