Reception Hall - Question

Reception Hall - Question

Two of my friends are getting married end of 2010/early 2011.

They've both been making payments to their reception hall for over 6 months now.

With my reception hall, my first payment isn't due until 1 year prior to the date (Feb 19th). Then money is due every 3 months until the date. So I haven't paid a dime besides deposit.
Both these friends tell me this is unusual but I hadn't thought anything of it!

What are all your payment schedules like?

P.S. I just found out my cousin is getting married 10.10.10 at the Plaza - 4 months before me, and he has the same date as my girlfriend whom is getting married at Giorgios at Fox Hill. Now what do I do?!

Re: Reception Hall - Question

MY payment schedule is retarded... they wanted varying amounts of money from Sept when we booked, monthly til the end of 2009; Then they skip 2010 all together, then they want a couple of small payments toward the summer and then Like, 12K a month before as the second to last payment! They're nuts!! We've just been paying a steady amount every month and will continue to do so throughout 2010 and it should al come out in the wash... so dumb though.

As far as whose wedding to go to... who are you closer to? That would be my answer.

That's what I was gonna say, but the Plaza is in Manhattan and Giorgios is in BAiting Hollow way out east in Suffolk. So not gonna happen.

Re: Reception Hall - Question

When we booked in March we made the dep then the next payments were due May, sept then jan. After that there are no payments due until I think a month before the wedding. We have to pay the balance then but we plan on making payments all throughout this year even through we dont have to. I would talk to your BM. IF you want to give them money i cant see them not taking it

We booked in Nov and deposit was due. Jan 1st another like 2,000 deposit, then April 1st then August 1st and Oc 1st of 2010, then around 10g's is due the week before the wedding plus what ever we go over considering that is if we just have the quarentee

Our deposit was due when we signed our contract. That was back in Nov. Then a payment is due feb 1, may 1st, aug 1st. Then the remaining balance is due 2 weeks before the wedding.

Dont worry At bridgeview You make your downpayment of 1500 and the entire total is due 3 weeks before the wedding.. Ive been to a few halls where The balance was not due until very close to the wedding day.. It just depends on the rental Halll

I have been making payments since i booked my RH in august.....I was told that I would pay this amount for 9 months and then a break and the rest of the money is due.....but this was the agreement i made so I wouldnt spend my money of wasteful things.....I am an impulse shopper

is it?

I had never even heard of having a wedding at the Plaza until the movie Bride Wars lol

Someone told me it was really expensive (like $400pp) but I was talking to my aunt and she seemed to think my budget is bigger than my cousins. Maybe I'm just having more people, who knows. Or maybe she has no idea.

edited for my poor spelling.

Re: Reception Hall - Question

We booked almost exactly 2 years before the wedding. We put down our deposit then we have 25% due 8 months after and again another 8 months after that and then the last payment is due 1 month before the wedding I like it this way it gives us time to save up and spreads it out so were not constantly paying payments.

Re: Reception Hall - Question

MY RH let us create our payment schedule. My FH and I want everything paid for a month before the wedding date. So with everything we are making payments monthly until a month before the wedding.

Yeah I booked 2 and 1/2 years before hand. Put down $1000 deposit. Haven't paid a dime since. I thought it was normal. People told me it was crazy.

Now it seems like everyones payment schedules are all over the place.

You girls made me feel better lol.
