For those of you that have booked already, what are the payment schedules like? I'm looking at the East Wind and have an appointment in a couple of weeks. They will likely ask for a 10 or 20 percent deposit, right? Then what? Since the wedding is in 2009 do they spread out the payments? I see a lot of people writing about how they made an initial deposit and then 2 months later paid 3000 and then 2 months after that another 3000. Is that usually what happens? Sorry - I just want to be really prepared! Can you tell I'm getting nervous?

Re: Reception Hall Questions
Well, with my Hall we had to leave a 500.00 deposit. Then, we were able to negotiate the payment schedule since it is in 2009, to a schedule that was better for us. Don't stree it's so much fun going to look at different halls. Good Luck with everything!

Thanks! It's hard not to stress when all I think about is how expensive it is going to be. I'm excited though!

Re: Reception Hall Questions
Ok, I'm already booked with the East Wind so I can tell you exactly. My first payment was 10% of the total amount which is the minimum number of people plus service charge and gratuity. The second payment is in September of this year and my third payment is in May of 08. The final payment obviously is paid the day of and its the difference with added people, etc. HTH!!

So, are the 2nd and 3rd payments a percentage of the cost of the wedding or a set amount? So, by May, what percentage of your wedding will be paid for?
Also, was the East Wind flexible at all? Do they lower the price or throw things in?
Thanks for answering my annoying questions!

Re: Reception Hall Questions
No problem, I'm happy to help! They are flexible. I got the elite dinner because I couldn't afford the premium (or was it the other way around? ) Well, either way, the only thing I wanted from the more expensive package was the champagne reception so my BM threw that in for me. They are so incredibly nice and are extremely willing to work with you.
The second and third payments are set amounts I believe (I'm not at home so I don't have my contract in front of me). They will be around the same amount as your first payment. By the time your wedding comes you will still have a decent amount to pay since the amount they use is for the minimum for the room so if you're above the minimum then you have to pay that difference as well. Long story short, it's still a hefty check in the end

Re: Reception Hall Questions
We had to put $1000 down and have $1500 payments every 5 months. Then the remainder is due the week of the wedding.

Yeah, I think that is how the Watermill works because that is how they worked out the payments for us too which is not that bad at all.

Re: Reception Hall Questions
I agree...
With the North Ritz, we put down $1000, and we paid another $1500 in April (we booked in Feb), another $1500 in June and the last $1500 in August.
Then nothing till shortly before the wedding. We will probably give more before that but at least we will be prepared!
Good Luck!

Re: Reception Hall Questions
I had to put down $500 but i have 7 payments to make and some are 3 months apart and other times 2 months apart, and then the balance due two weeks before
We had to pay 1,000 and then about half of the total for our minimum number of guest. A few payments every 4 months.

08'er crashing!!! lol
I am having mine at CLM we had to leave $1,000 down and then pay $1,000 every 2 months until they get $5,000 from us. Then we dont pay anything until 2 weeks before the wedding ( you can if you want tho!) you can even pay the $5000 right there when you sign so you dont have to worry about it for a while. I know you are looking into east wind but just thought id let you know incse you decided to look someplace else!
HTH!
