Reception hall wants us to pick our menu tonight? UPDATE!

I thought it was strange they wanted us to meet with them to do our menu selection so early. I mean, our wedding isn't until May 12. Is it normal to have this done sooooo soon

UPDATE:

We just got back from our reception hall. It was actually neat. He just wanted to go over the menu and let us know the rough estimate for the price of food and alcohol. He also gave some samples of menu cards, fan programs and stuff like that that other brides have made for past weddings.

We've already had a tasting with them about 2 months ago, but they still made up some great appies and desserts for us tonight. And gave us a nice cocktail

Overall it was great! In February they are havin an open house and we are invited so we can taste ALL of the food.

We are happy that we went......it definitely wasn't a waste of time at all. Now we know what we are looking at - MAXIMUM wise - for the bill.

Just thought I would share!

PS. we still finalize everything a few weeks prior to our wedding day, so that 's good!!

I thought it was early as well. I phoned to ask them why and they said they like to get things done early. They want us to decide on what types of food we'll be serving and things for the cocktail hour.

Hmmmmmmm, guess one bonus is that I can get my menu cards done earlier!!!

Just thought I would ask you girls as I thought it was early to do this........

I think my contract says 30 days prior we have to have everything decided. So, this is extremely early!

maybe this is just like stage 1 of the menu process? like come in and tell us CH food....then we'll schedule a tasting for things and then later do the final menu???

my wedding is almost 3 months b4 yours, and i had to kind of fight to get an appt. for next week to do our menu!

That is early. I think 4-6 weeks prior is the norm. I would call and find out why they need this information so early. I'm curious to know myself.

definatly sounds early to me, but maybe its so that they can have u do a tasting and if you d ont like it you can change it, try it again, etc... ????

i peresonally LIKE to get my stuff done waaaay in advance bc Im a total procrastinator and i know NOTHING will end up getting done unless i do it WAYYYYY early

I think its early - then again .. you could have a head start on the menu (if your making one)

Im going 1 mth before - wanna make sure I have enought time to design and print the menu!

4 - 6wks is the norm.

Ask them what the revision policy is once you've met with them this early on. If you're OK with picking your menu, then by all menas do it. Otherwise, let them know that your preference is to wait. JMHO
