Reception Halls

I'm just soooooo upset right now, I booked my 2004 wedding at The Huntington Townhouse, everything 'seemed' to be perfect there until now. I'm hearing nothing but negative things about this place and dont want it ruining my day. I even spoke with a well known vendor and he told me to back out now before it's too late. We're on a budget for our wedding and I was wondering if anybody can point me in the direction of well known, not too expensive halls pleaseeeee!

Re: Reception Halls

You can get those prices at other halls, but you may have to be flexible. For example, I am getting a great deal, but my wedding in in march. I was also quoted something in your price range at the Coral House and Swan Club for a May date. Flexibility is the key!!!!

Re: Reception Halls

We almost booked with the New Huntington Town House but then heard some bad things on them. We booked with the Manor East. They have all different plans you can choose from. Me & FH really liked the townhouse but couldn't risk it after we heard bad things. Good luck

Re: Reception Halls

Keep in mind that no matter what place you pick someone will have something negative to say about it, so if you really liked Huntington Town House stick with it, but other places you might want to try out-- Stewart Manor Country Club, Coral House- there are a lot of options for that price range.

Re: Reception Halls

I know of some halls that have packages.
Brentwood Country Club
Windows on the Lake
Imperial Manor-May not have apackage, but is inexpensive.
I have never been to any of these places, but have heard that the food is really good at WOTL. I looked there, but it wasn't for me. Check them out... you never know.

If YOU like the Huntington Townhouse, then stay there. Ask for a tasting, and make a list of your needs. If everything meets YOUR expectations, then stay put. The choice is yours and only yours!!!

Smithtown Landing Country is in that range. They include your cake and centerpieces.

Re: Reception Halls

Stick with your gut feeling, you must of liked it when you booked it originally. Remember, what's great to someone else might not be what you like, so it's best to stick with your own decision.

Re: Reception Halls

I am not a fan of the Huntingtown House- my prom was there. I think you need to stick to your gut on this one. There are tons of halls you can go to for your price range.

Re: Reception Halls

Try the meadow club in port jeff, port jeff country club, watermill in smithtown, john anthonys on the water, thatched cottage ( i looked at all of these for an april wedding, and I believe they are in all your range or very close). Hope this helps you.

Re: Reception Halls

Hi, You may also want to try Manor East, Leonards, Meditteranean Manor or Stuart Thomas Manor. From what I hear, they seem reasonable.

Re: Reception Halls

Don't take everyone's opinions on here as RULES to live by. Everyone is very helpful but they are opinions and sometimes truthful and sometimes jaded by whatever circumstance. Go with your gut feeling about the place and if that is what you liked, there was a reason you booked it in the first place!

My reception is at the Manor East. We are having over 200 people and are paying a very good per person price for what we are getting.

Re: Reception Halls

Hi, first I want to say that agree that you should do what YOU want to do. You're most likely going to hear something negative about any reception hall you book.
However, if you really don't want to stick with NHTH, you should check out Leonards of Great Neck and Swan Club. Swan Club gave me a price of $75 (including tax and tip) for a Sunday night in April and Leonards gave me a price of $75 (including tax and tip) for a Sunday night in April, May or June.

Good Luck!!

Re: Reception Halls

the swan club is really fantastic...I've been to a few retirement parties and wedding there...Its a beautiful setting and the food is good...and the price is right...

I agree to go with your gut, but you also don't want to be nervous about something as big as the hall...

Re: Reception Halls

We had our wedding in October of 2001 at West LAke Inn in Patchoque! I t was wonderful! People still talk about it. It is owned by the Loven Oven company...the same ones that own Lands End and Flowerfields. Our reception was on a Saturday Afternoon and it was $60 a plate. You are getting the same foiod that they serve at Lands end and Flowerfield but not at thir prices! There is only one event going on at one time.,,that was a big selling point for us. The place is beautiful. There really do not have any grounds...just a gazebo in the front...but my husband and I went to the Bayard Arboritum (sp?) to have our pictures taken!
The staff there isd wonder ful...the bridal suite is HUGE!!!! I really dont think you will go wroing to check out thiks place.
Good LUck!
Lisa

Re: Reception Halls

If you go to the west lake inn, ask for Pat. She is incredible. She was the nicest person I met out of all the halls I looked at!

Re: Reception Halls

I'm getting married at Windows on the Lake and paying approx. $65 a head in August. It includes your cake as well as a $10 credit toward your centerpieces. I have heard basically nothing BUT negative comments from people on this board about WOTL, but I love it and that's all that matters. The food is awesome, there's a beautiful view, etc. My sister is getting married next year at the Floral Terrace, which is gorgeous, and is paying $75 a head. Also, The Meadow Club is really nice and quite reasonable. Good luck with everything, and if you have your heart set on your place, then go with it!
