Re: Reception Halls
I'm deciding between westbury manor, jericho terrace, milleridge cottage, and the swan club. Does anyone know anything about the Sandcastle in Franklin square?? i've heard mixed things about it and need some opinions. Can anyone help me decide on a place? Thanks.

Re: Reception Halls
My parents live a few blocks from it. Personally, it's not my thing--there's not much outdoor area to speak of and I *personally* don't like the fountains they have outside. However, I've heard that it's very nice inside and the food is excellent (many friends/family have been to events there, I haven't). I know they are owned by the same people who own Jericho Terrace and Chateau Briand.
I've been to all the places you mentioned. Here are my impressions: * Westbury Manor: I loved the atmosphere, but I would have been in their smallest room. I really didn't like that my bar would have been in a separate room. Also, the bridal suite was very small and the bathroom was FAR for the smaller room. I also did not like the traffic noise that you hear in the gardens.
*Millerridge: I loved the Cottage and thought it was so elegant. I loved the different areas within the building and the fact that valet parking wasn't necessary. However, I didn't like the small amount of outdoor space and the traffic noise. I think it would have been a harder choice for me to turn it down if not for the minimum, which I feared we wouldn't make. It's seriously a charming place and you're the only wedding in the building!
* Swan Club: I love love love Swan Club and I am getting married there! Their gardens are top-knotch, their food is great, and the banquet manager who helped me, Jordana, was VERY professional.

I got married at Milleridge Cottage and I was extremely pleased with everything. The place is absolutely gorgeous and it gives you a nice homey feeling. We had our ceremony there too and the room we did that in was like an atrium. Since everything is glass enclosed, you have the feeling of an outdoor wedding but its all inside. Its one wedding at a time and they took such great care of us. There was plenty of food and I mean plenty. No one went hungry. People to this day still talk about it and rave about. Since next weekend is our 1 year anniversary, we are going back to celebrate with our families.

Re: Reception Halls
I forgot to talk about Jericho Terrace:
I went there and liked it a lot more than I thought I would. It's a bit glitsy and over the top, but I sort of unexpectedly liked that!
I've heard excellent things about service and food but I've heard that there are too many weddings at once (or at least it seems like that) and sometimes you can hear what's going on in the next room--a big consideration for us, since we were planning on getting married at the RH.
I thought it was very nice, but just not for us.

I'm going to 4th FF...especially at Xmas...but you knew I'd say that.
If my entire family wasn't out of state...I would definately have a winter FF wedding.
Of the places you listed, I've only been to Flowerfield. We were just there in September for a wedding, and WOW was it amazing. The place is beautiful, the service was impeccable and the food was unbelievable.

I know that you dont have The Milleridge on your list but I have to say as well, that it is beyond gorgeous around Christmas time-My sister got married there about 10 yrs ago on Dec 13 and the pictures, the ambiance, the decoration is grogeous! It is by far the most beautiful RH I have seen around the holidays.

I've only been to Flowerfields and its gorgeous there. You have RH from LI to brooklyn to New Rochelle. Which one is more convenient for you and your guests? I know location place a big factor when I chose my reception hall. My make artist isn't coming to my house, I have to drive there the morning of. And I'm staying at my mothers the night before, FH and I can't see each other till the wedding day. You might want to consider location.

Re: Reception Halls
110% Surf Club in New Rochelle -- if i could have afforded it I wouldve booked there in a heartbeat. A close family friend had her wedding there 4 years ago and people STILL say it was the best wedding they've ever been to and the cocktail hour was by far the most extravagent they've ever seen -- literally it BLEW ME AWAY! Plus, the setting is just breathtaking.

Re: Reception Halls
In response to Fancyface1955's post, I've been to a ton of weddings at the Sand Castle and I'm getting married there myself. I personally loved it there. The place is really pretty, the food is good, and they give you a lot for what you pay. I would recommend at least checking it out.
The people who own Sand Castle also own Floral Terrace.
I'm not sure if one of the posts were saying that the owners of the Sand Castle own Jericho Terrace and Chateau Briand too. But I'm not sure if that's definite. A guy named Nick owns the Sand Castle. Chateau Briand is owned by the Scotto Brothers I believe, who also own Fox Hollow and Westbury Manor. I believe Jericho Terrace is owned by the Leone Family. I don't think it's connected with the Sand Castle. Not sure if this info helps, but it might give you an idea of what to expect at certain places. Again, I could be wrong, but this is who I've heard owns these places.
In response to the original post, Russo's on the Bay is awesome! The food is great there, and it's so pretty. I went to 1 wedding there and would love to go to another one. I've only ever heard good things about it. So I'd recommend Russo's.

Re: Reception Halls
If I wanted to go to location I can literally walk to Russos from my house. I live in Queens so I am centrally located to all of those places.. This is why I am having such a big problem....
