I felt the same way. I feel like I looked at everyplace on the island. All the nice places were sooo expensive. My advice is that if you want a nicer place you're gonna have to give up some things like on season date, saturday night, and menu extras. Happy hunting!!!!

Been there!
For logistical reasons I wanted to stay in the Brooklyn/Queens/Manhattan area, but that just wasn't feasible for the amount of people we wanted to invite.
But we had ours at Jericho Terrace in Mineola and it wasn't that far from Queens and was a great RH! Good luck!

I'm not sure about the cost of this... but if you're not planning on having a huge wedding, I've seen BEAUTIFUL weddings done at the New Leaf Cafe up in Fort Tryon Park in Washington Heights.
The scenery is beautiful and the food is delish. For larger parties, you could also rent a tent and have the reception outdoors.
Also! When FH and I were looking at possible RH spots, we looked at Water's Edge in LIC. It has a great view of NYC and the prices were comparable to RH's on LI (I was quoted $150pp for a Saturday night in Sept -- but did not try to bargain down at all so I'm sure you could get it lower)
It's worth checking places in Brooklyn and LIC
Edited to add info about Water's Edge
