Reception Ideas

Reception Ideas

Hi! I'm newly engaged and am starting to look around for a place to have my reception. I would really love a summer, beachy wedding but i can't afford a catering hall on the water. Does anyone know of any nice rental halls that would fit about 150 ppl? Also, I was thinking of having my ceremony at the Fire Island Light house. Has anyone done this? How did it go? Thanks.

Congratulations! I don't know about the light house thing but I do know there are inexpensive venues on the water like Capt Bills, The Riviera and Chateau Le Mer. Also, I think there are places on Fire Island that can be rented out for wedding receptions.

Land's End can be doable, but may be on the higher side (I looked for October, it was 'off season'). But don't outrule some of the places you have your heart set on, sometimes by changing it to a Friday night or Sunday afternoon you can get a great deal.

Check out the The Old Field club in Setauket-absolutely gorgeous-not the beach but the LI sound. Also the Riviera in Massapequa-reasonable and VERY pretty!

My cousin had a Saturday night wedding at the Snapper Inn last July and it was wonderful!!! I know they had to keep costs down themselves and this fit within their budget.

I really liked the riviera but didn't work for me with the dates

Thanks for the ideas. I'll give them a call. I'm having a really hard time. The best quote i've gotten was $65 for an afternoon reception, and even that's too much.

You could also try Captain Bills in Bayshore - I know the name sounds funny but the pics look beautiful.
