A lot of my vendors are requesting the wedding day timeline/itinerary. I'm having trouble with my reception itinerary. I want there to be as much dancing as possible! Does anyone have any reception timeline samples?
who is your dj , my mc/dj went over everything with us he coordinated everything down to the last dance, packing up and going home. He knew the staff & worked with the maitre'd . I used BIG HITS they were awesome! A bit pricey but I had no worries & they were professional

Re: Reception Itinerary
Also run the timeline by your RH/caterer before you pass it out to vendors. You want to make sure everything is timed up to when they would normally serve the food. They anticipate serving the main course at a certain time and you don't want to hold them back because your timeline doesn't mesh with theirs...

Re: Reception Itinerary
Here is what my timeline looked like (I erased a lot of stuff because we had a lot of extra info in here - set up for a Jewish wedding but still useful):
8:45-9AM - Hair and make-up arrive
Sometime after 9am, florist arrives to begin construction
9-11AM - Hair and make-up continue
11AM - Photo and video arrive at hotel to take “getting ready” photos etc
11:30-11:45 - All family members, including bride, head to ceremony/RH site
12:00pm - all immediate family members have arrived for pictures
1:30pm - close friends (who would otherwise be in the wedding party if we had not used family instead) arrive for pictures.
2:30pm - Rehearse the processional and recessional.
3:00pm - All other guests begin arriving and are treated to coffee or other very basic refreshments; rabbi gathers in the ballroom with bride and groom, immediate family and Ketubah witnesses. DJ commences background music in the sanctuary.
3:30pm - Ceremony.
approx. 4:00 - Ceremony ends, guests begin cocktail hour
approx. 20-30 minutes after ceremony ends, bride and groom make their way to cocktail hour to mingle with guests
4:50pm - Bride and Groom disappear from cocktail hour
5:00pm - Music signals guests are to move to reception
5:05pm - Bride and Groom introduced for the first time as husband and wife, then first dance. Eventually DJ invites the other guests to join the special couple.
Upon conclusion of the first dance, DJ commences the Horah
5:40pm - DJ asks everyone to be seated as the 2 dads gather in the center of the dance floor to do the traditional motzi/cutting of the challah. Following this, guests will dine on their salads as the Best Man and then the Maid of Honor make back-to-back toasts. Bride and groom make brief welcome remarks.
6:00pm - DJ commences 1/2 hour music set (NOTE - many guests complimented us on the dancing we had between courses).
6:30pm - main course, photogs get table pictures, bride and groom make the rounds.
approx. 7 or 7:15 (DJ to use his discretion based on progress with dinner, gauging if most people have finished etc...), DJ begins another music set until 8pm
At some point in here, Bride/Father dance and Groom/Mother dance
8:00pm - cake-cutting and other dessert.
8:20pm until 9:00pm - DJ begins last set of music.
9:00pm - Party's over.

Re: Reception Itinerary
I don't have my timeline on this computer but DOC made it for me. BUT maitre'd will also go through timeline with you when you go for final meeting so don't worry. They will write the exact times of everything youre doing and what youre doing.
