I have been watching Platinum Weddings...I know big mistake, but I really like the way the reception lighting looks and when they have spotlights on the CPs. I noticed there are only two vendors on here for lighting and I emailed one of them (no response yet!) but was wondering if anyone knows of others.
Our DJ is LI Sound and I can't find the info folder I had on them. Do they offer room lighting, I feel like they might?
TIA

I'm not sure about LI Sound, but I'm using Absolute Entertainment and they do offer lighting packages.

Re: Reception lighting ?
you can look online for floralights
or maybe do different sized votives around the centerpiece to uplight it.
My DJ brought in some simple lighting for my wedding and decorated the table with candles to illuminate them. It looked pretty cool! here is a pic...
they have the centerpiece spotlight, but its $60. You should try finding it for cheaper...
here is the direct link to the product. spot light they are sold in sets of three. so its really $20 each.

Re: Reception lighting ?
Great, thanks for the info. Come to think of it, I was planning on having a lot of votives around the centerpieces so the spotlight might be overkill. I would still like to do the uplighting....but what color! Sometimes I have too many ideas for this wedding my mind just goes and goes and goes!!

Re: Reception lighting ?
Go to Starlight Express DJ. They are prob going to DJ my wedding and do lighting all around the room as well as on the center pieces. My room is very big and the lighing for everything is $55/light so they said it will be approx $1,500 for just lighting.
I have heard this isn't too bad of a price. But not sure

Re: Reception lighting ?
I emailed Luminous Designs and it said that their prices start at $2,000 so the price you got sounds like a good price!

Talk with your RH too. They may have a vendor that they have used before and might be able to offer advice on how the room looks in certain situations.

I have been working with Glen from Get In Tune Productions (631-737-0025) and he is phenomenal!! (Check out Love Rocks reveiw, she is an 08 bride). He works with your budget (no starting amount, really depends on what you want)and is very talented. After speaking to other vendors and dealing with different people my experience has been its best to work with a lighting company and not a DJ....especially for the type of lights you want. We are doing Amber uplighting on the columns in my room and then branch gobos on the ceiling...
FM if you want his information..he is great to work with...very patient and a lot of fun. I have seen some of work through my DOC for some weddings he did for her...amazing stuff for centerpieces and room lighting...
Godd luck and FM for more info!

I love Glen!! I'm so happy that you decided to work with him because you will be blown away by how sick everything will look. I saw pics of a wedding they did using the branch gobos and that's what sold me on them. Its going to be gorgeous!!

Re: Reception lighting ?
We are using LI Sound for our DJ and we got the lightening towers. I liked the red lights they can use to go along with our all white/red theme. So they def. have packages.

Definition from Wikipidia:
'A gobo is a template or pattern cut into a circular plate used to create patterns of projected light. The name may be derived from go between, or from Goes Before Optics. Go between refers to its position between the lamp and the lens. Another origin may be: Graphical optical blackout. Gobos are similar in use to cookies (see cucoloris), and flags, which are placed farther from the lighting instrument between the lens and subject.'
Have you ever seen initials or a monogram lighting? That's done using gobos.
