Reception order....

Reception order....

I have recently been to a lot of weddings outside of LI and the order of things has been very different at each. What order are you doing the first dance, th cake cutting, the parent dances, and the bouquet toss/dedication?
The last wedding I was at had the cake cutting immediately following the bride and groom entrance, then followed by the first dance. I liked the idea of not having to stop the party later for the cake cutting.
I mentioned this to a DJ on LI and he made it sound like we would be breaking a cardinal rule by cutting the cake in the beginning.
Just wondering what everyone else is doing or if you have any opinions on this...??

Remind the DJ you are paying and it is your wedding. I think Long Islanders might welcome the change instead of the cookie cutter wedding. I went to a wedding where anyone that wanted to do a toast did a toast before the cake cutting. It was very entertaining and enjoyable for everyone. Do what you want! It is your day!

I like have the cake cutting not in the middle...I am thinking about doing it right after dinner...give people a little time to relax before dancing again...then father/daughter (more digesting) and then mother/son (even MORE digesting)

not set in stone though...
