we fell in love, or at least i did, as soon as i walked into the watermill (2nd one) .
I was to a wedding at captain bill's in july. They did a really nice job. It's a new building witha wonderful view....great food. No complaints what so ever. I would have looked more into it but i didn't want to have it at the same place as a friend. Very simple and lovely at the same time.

Re: Reception questions.
I couldn't vote because we (read: I) looked around at more than a few places... probably around 10 or so. Coincidentally, the first and only place my FH went with me to see was the one we ended up booking on the spot!

Re: Reception questions.
The Meadow Club was our first stop on our search...after that we saw John Anthony's on the water, Meditteranean Manor, Land's End, East Wind and Larkfield Manor. We ended up right back at the Meadow Club and booked them. I'm going to a wedding on March 28th at Leonard's so I'll let you know. I've only heard positive things about Timber Point and Captain Bill's.

About Timberpoint CC:
I haven't been to a wedding there, but I have been to a sweet 16 and some kind of school function back in the day. It is very pretty, and has nice outdoor grounds too.

Re: Reception questions.
I looked at like 10 halls. For us it was finding a very inexpensive price while being able to accomodate over 200 people, while still being a nice place.

Re: Reception questions.
FH and I looked at a total of 6 places These are the places. 1. Washington manor 2. Sans Souci 3. Roslyn Claremont Hotel 4. The Swan Club 5. Woodbury Country Club 6. North Ritz Club
The second we saw the North Ritz - we KNEW it was theone - we even canceled our appointment with Fox Hollow once we saw the NRC - it was just exactly what we were looking for.

Re: Reception questions.
I looked at like 20 places I actually practically booked the NYBG before going with Oheka. Oheka was by far our first choice, we fell in love with the place at first glimpse, however, we hesitated because of the unbelievable prices. In the end, my dad was willing to go for it, so my dream came true

Same thing with me, it's perfect for us, on many levels. He wanted water, I wanted garden, the price is great, and they do small weddings...

Re: Reception questions.
we were limited in our choices because we wanted to keep the number of guests ~100 and many places required a higher minimum guests guarantee for a saturday night.
we looked at a few places, weighed the pros and cons, and finally decided that food and service were the most important factors for us.

Re: Reception questions.
I have never been to Timber Point, but I have been to other Lessings venues. My mom had her fifty b-day and my cousin had sweet 16 at Sayville Country Club and the food was great and the staff was really accomidating. I am also using a Lessings venue.

Re: Reception questions.
It was the first place we went to, and as soon as we saw Flowerfield we knew.
We saw 2 other places because we felt we had to, but there was no choice, as far as we were concerned!

Re: Reception questions.
Flowerfield was the first hall I saw. I LOVED it, but was scared that hubby and I wouldnt be able to pay for it. So, we looked at 15 others, even booked at the Crescent Beach Club. But a few nights later I cancelled it. I ran back to Flowerfield. I just couldnt imagine my wedding taking place anywhere else. It was the best decision I made!

Re: Reception questions.
Crest Hollow like everybody esle was one of the first places we saw (acutally the 2nd) and we loved it and saw where everything would go...etc
we continued to look around at 5 or so places but nothing came close to it...or was way over our budget i.e. Lands End

Re: Reception questions.
We went to about 5 or 6 places before we decided.
1st stop was North Ritz Club- Fh walked in a said lets book it
2nd Fox hallow- FH walked in and said I am sold Lets book it
Actually got a flat tire and never made it to Woodbury CC
Then Jericho Terrace and we both said lets bring the parents back here to see it. Once we walked in the front door we were sold.
We then went to the Metropolitan in Glen Cove just because we had an appointment with them and it really was not for us.
I guess we only saw 4 then it was really between NRC and JT but we thought JT was offering more for our $$ which is why we went with them.

Re: Reception questions.
I think Butterflygirl is getting married at Timber point this week & she posted an open invitation to attend the cermony ( at the hall)
We only looked at one place, b/c i thought I was going to have trouble finding an un-wedding place, for under 100 people, with only 1 wedding at a tim, so when we found a place that had all that we went to see it, we liked the whole package, so we booked it.
Now from reading other posts ( and that damn trread with all teh pretty hallpictures) I see we may have had othe roptions, but I like the carriage house & may go to a band showcase there just to see it again.
