We are looking to get married Nov/Early Dec 2004 or jan 2005. We plan to have the ceremony at the same place as reception.
We have looked at a few places and are torn between the Thatched Cottage in Centerport and The Riviera in Massapequa.
Please vote and leave me any input you can, especially if you have been to an event at each place.
Thanks!

Re: Reception site help needed.
There was just another post about the Thatched Cottage. Keep in mind that there is a fire house next door to the TC. If your ceremony/ CH is outside, you might be able to hear if the alarms go off.

I had looked at both places also, and preferred the Riveria much more. I did not like the room downstairs where the cocktail hour would be held if the weather was not good. It seemed dark and dingy IMO. Also, they do not have a walk up bar in the main room. All drinks are served by the waiters and waitresses. If you so not want to wait it is nice to have the option to get up and get your drink. These were just a couple of things that we were not too happy with.

Re: Reception site help needed.
being that I grew up right near the Thatched Cottage I thought it would be nice to get married there... but I was a little upset with a few things...
1. they let me look around during a wedding...I actually ran into the bride...
2. the room layout is very weird
3. the valet was smoking cigarettes (IN MY CAR AS WELL - didn't put it out) and he was in a dirty Tshirt - when I brought it up the manager really had no answer (granted all the guest had probably already come)
