I am booked at Leonards, their prices are definitely reasonable. I am paying 60pp but that does not include grat. & taxes., I am also having on a Sunday. How many people are you expecting? Ever consider having it on a Saturday afternoon or Sunday, If you do you might be able to negotiate price anywhere. If you have any questions on Leonards, just ask.
Well, I'm sure my very very good friend will be able to post about it on the day after...I'll be on my way to Aruba.
When are you getting married there?

I definitely would take a look at Leonards, if you can. I am sure that if you try to negotiate with them things should be able to work out, they are very accommodating. I think Leonards is a very beautiful place and food is to die for, for the price they are asking. Again, you are getting married in Feb, which is off season. I would check them out and see what they can do for you. I booked with Mary Jean. Just a word of advice when you do visit these places tell them exactly what you want and what you are willing to pay, don't let them sweet talk you into going over your budget. You will find something.
Leonard's wasn't bad. The room they offered me for 200 was too small on the first floor. They were $10 more than the Coral House. Douglaston was cheaper than the Coral House. I went with the Coral House. They had everything decorated for Christmas on 12/2. Everyone loved the hall.
You might also want to contact some local photographers and ask them for some suggestions. Hopefully if you explain your situation, that you are planning from out of state, they may be more than willing to pass along some more ideas and tips.

We booked the Sands in Atlantic Beach for our Feb.16,2002 wedding. We live in Rockaway and most of our 200 guests will be from Nassau County or the Rockaway area so we wanted something in between the two areas. We booked it in September. It was the third place we looked at and we fell in love with it.We are paying 75pp for a Saturday night but a Friday night or afternoon wedding might be cheaper. If you want their number or web page info. let me know. Good luck with Lenords. I have not been there in years but remember it as being very nice. Elisa We chose an excellent photographer, Gray Studios in Floral Park. They are terrific and will travel anywhere. Give them a call.

Reception Sites- Thought of another place
Michele You might want to check Floral Terrace, my cousin held her receiption there in Jan. Its a very different look it was a theater at one time and parts of it has been restored. The food and service were outstanding. Its located in Floral Park. Happy Planning and Happy Holidays
It's not bad that you don't know, it was the first place you looked at.. When you go to see others see what they include in the packages, and since you are getting married in February they should be willing to work with you.

Reception Sites- Thought of another place
I may be getting confused, but are you on a limited budget? Anyhow, there are a few other places in Brooklyn, such as the Ft. Hamilton Army Base, and Siricco's. Off the top of my head, those are the only decent ones that I can think of. There are also many beautiful places in Nassau, which isn't too far of a drive from Brooklyn. Another alternative, which is what we are doing, since we are getting married in Brooklyn and having our reception in Sayville, my fiance's hometown in Suffolk, we are renting a bus to bring family and friends to the reception.
You should go with the headpeice. When I went to Maryanne's, Belle didn't make the hair stand up out of the headpeice. So we knew right way that it wasn't what would look good. I needed the hair to be high in the back to show off the tiara. I took pictures with both places that I went for the trials. This way you could bring it back the day of the wedding.
I'm from Queens, but can't think of one place to recommend besides Russo's on the Bay, or Douglaston Manor. A friend of mine had her reception at the Queens County Farm in Little Neck. It was in the barn (which has been remodeled for functions) Very Cool. But you have to cater in. I'm sure they would have an opening.

Sorry I dont know, but give them a call. I think you said your planning on a Feb. date as long as your not on top of Valentines day you should be able to do well price wise. My cousin must hae had absolutely everything on the menu - multipule carving & Pasta stations - a roasted pig, all the regular stuff, seafood, 4 dinner choices and a vianese hour(way way too much food)and I know she was around $100.00pp total on a Sat night. Like I said she was way overboard on the extra food. I dont know what there price is like If you stick to the regular menu.
At our church, our photographer will be asked to take certain 'staged' shots after the wedding, such as the readers doing the readings. That's how it was also done at my brother's wedding years ago at the same church. Is this just something with my church, or is that a standard practice at weddings? Also, did your photographer not take these 'staged' photos after the actual ceremony? Just curious.

You might want to check out Crest Hollow Country Club. I'm having my wedding there in July 2002. For Friday night, the price is not bad, and February might even be a cheaper month than July. The prices there are more reasonable than you would think, it wouldn't hurt to get a price quote from them.

We just went to Joe Abbraciamento for a birthday party 2 weekends ago. I didnt get a good look at the place other than the room we were in but the food was pretty good. I wouldnt consider it on the same level as The Swan Club or Russos though. I lived on Long Island in Medford, 15 minutes from Ronkonkoma, for 23 years up until August of this year. I moved to Idaho to be with my fiance. My huge family all lives on Long Island still so that is why I am looking to get married there. Most of my family lives on the border or Nassau and Suffolk so Im not sure where we are going to get married, but with 6 months to plan we better get moving.
