Ok...we are just starting to look and are trying desperatly to narrow down choices and get some prices first and they have been hard to come by..none of our e-mails have yet to be replied to by about 10 sites... Our tenative plans are a February-April 2005 wedding (what ever date is cheapest in that time frame) We will go with a Friday night due to the lower cost and we have approxiametly 100 people, maybe 120 tops. We would like a buffet rather then sit down as well. Our budget is VERY limited. We are wondering if it's possible to get that time frame , that amount of people for less then $50 a head, or $55? Our desires for a location are a spacious room..no crowded tables and large dance floor and two bars( one floating?) and decent food...not too picky really. Our ideas for places so far have been (none visited) -Chateau La MEr -Sterling at Bethpage(anyone know if they have a website?) Captin Bills: BayView Room I think its called -Swan Club -Huntington Town House -Ariana Waterfalls -Meadow Club Does anyone has ideas about prices at these places...and any more suggestions? I'm sorry this is so long..we don't know WHERE TO start! Thanks so much!!!! Donna

I love it there, have been to a wedding there , but I thought they would be way out of my budget?

Re: Reception sites..HELP!!!
I remember from my experience at East Wind that they had different size rooms and they were different prices. I know the Inn is more expensive but maybe with your timeframe and your Friday night, you could do it.

I'm the king of reception halls... I've been to over 20 looking for mine. First off, I hate to break it to you, but rooms for 100 people are hardly spacious. It really sucks, but that's the way it seems to be. It's likely you won't find a giant room for that low a guarentee. (I know, I'm in the 100 boat as well)
Of the cheapest places we went to, I'd have to say Manor East, and Mediterainian Manor were the two lowest costing. The room for 100 people in Med Manor is not very big. But they might be within your budget that time of year. (Is that 50-55 plus tax and tip?)
Have you thought about a tent wedding instead? I dunno the costs, but the idea just came to me. Have it in September. This way you can have the buffet like you want, I'm not aware of many halls that offer buffet style dining.
If you want costs, I was asking for November/December prices. Name a place and I'll try to help if I remember what I was quoted.
And the cheapest time to do it would likely be a Sunday night, or Sat Afternoon. Friday night is the 2nd most costly next to Saturday night. It also usually has higher minimums.

Re: Reception sites..HELP!!!
I went to visit these places. Quotes reflect summer sat night reception and sit down meal, so it may be cheaper for buffet in the winter/spring. They are in order of what I liked from most to least
* La Grange Inn ($60/pp, really like the rooms, had a B&B feel) * Tivoli Caterers (They were $60/pp, nice place, only does one wedding at a time) * New Hyde Park Inn ($55/pp, have different size rooms, drawback: entrance not that great and no separation from their restaurant) * Keonigs (about $50-60, people have said the room is nice, but I didn't like the area or the entrance when I drove past so I cancelled my appt.)
Maybe try the Lido Golf Club? Their minimum was 80 ppl and they only have 1 wedding at a time. I think it was about $75 a person. But that was for a Sept Friday.

Oh, there is also the Immaculate Conception Center in Douglaston. It's a seminary, but they do weddings. I know a few people who have been there, and the food is amazing. Their buffets start at like $45 a person. And tip is only 10% We saw it last weekend, it's really pretty set up. This is kind of it, but it looked a lot nicer, I was skeptical about even going. ICC We were looking for something different, so we didn't pick it, but it's good for a small wedding.
If you call: 718-229-8001 Ext. 530 and ask for a menu, they will fax it over to you.

If you like that place, try Plattsdeustche Restaurant and Catering in Franklin Square. My BM went to a reception there and she said the food was great. I went to see it, I thought the large room was nice, but I didn't like the entrance.
Stewart Manor Country Club on a Sunday at $49.95, approx. One wedding at a time and they do a wonderful party

I forgot to add Holiday Inn-Plainview. I didn't see the place myself, my mother went and she said it was nice. It was about $50-60/pp for sit down.

Re: Reception sites..HELP!!!
You can try the Meadow Club, that's where we are having ours in Sept. Since you are flexible with day and month plus you want a buffet they should really be able to help you. We are using the biggest room they have but there is a smaller one which is very nice. Also I think the only way to get info is either to call or go there. I tried e-mailing many vendors and none of them ever seem to answer. Hope that helps!!
